Windows 8.1 Pro x64 UEFI very slow boot and shutdown

Refer to the above message post by myself a while ago.

I actually performed a recovery using the Windows System Recovery, not to revert to windows 8 however, but to the time before i did a few things right after i update from windows 8 to 8.1. Amazingly, the slow start up and shut down problem is not there anymore (I have shut down and restart at least 6 times to make sure). So i figure that, maybe the things that i did after i update to windows 8.1 have triggered the slow start up and shut down issue. Here is the list of what i did after update to 8.1:

1. verify the user account and later on change it to a local account
2. Install an update for Microsoft office 2010, 2013 and visual studio 2005. (This update was installed previously but was deleted after i performed the recovery. Now, the update file is pending installation but i dare not to do anything for the fear that it may trigger the slow issue again.)
3. Delete Dolby audio driver and re-install it. (There is an issue with the driver after i update to windows 8.1)
4. Re-install the bluetooth driver . (My bluetooth cease to function after update to windows 8.1)

I hope that this will help. Right now, i just leave my pc as it is until a solution is found. One more thing, the recovery point is not set by me, but it is set automatically by the pc. So, if any of you have the slow issue, try to check if your pc has set the restore point automatically for you.

You did the right thing; others may have noted what date slow startup began; and just do a system restore.

Tried system restore made no difference, not happy! had a very fast bootup HP Pavilion G6 i5 8GB laptop now takes 5 mins to get to desktop and 6-7 mins to shutdown and power off!   Microsoft have turned a previously Mac user back to using a Mac as the HP Win8.1 is useless I've completed most of my work on my iMac in the time it takes the laptop to get into windows environment.

I was commenting to people how I found Windows 8 very stable and fast to use but since the update I'm sorry to say Microsoft have lost my future praise and custom.

MY wife's ultrabook has plain W8, My desktop has Pro. Now my wife's start up after upgrading to W8.1 is 12 secdonds; the same as befor the upgrade. My desktop is 37 seconds; the same as before the upgrade.. Could be something to do with the pro vx the plain W8. However i beleive it's more to do with her SSD vs my old 5200 drive. I was able tos shave 12 seconds off my startup on desktop becuase it did take that much longer after I upgraded; dissabled some start up apps/programs .

Try System Refresh, instead of Restore.
