Windows 8.1 Pro x64 UEFI very slow boot and shutdown

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 8.1 via the in-store update my PC takes a good 3-4 minutes to boot!!! I am on a GA-X79-UD3 + i7-3820 + Samsung SSD 840 for system drive. I have updated all my drivers to Windows 8.1 compatible ones and still. I have checked via Samsung Magician and the drive is using AHCI mode on (Intel PCH) Sata 3 6Gb/s.  I have tried restoring my UEFI to default settings and enabling Fast Boot but still?? On Windows 8 it would boot in 5 seconds....

EDIT: Have tried Safe Boot and Clean Boot, still same

EDIT2: Will any Microsoft guy chime in?

    The Bluetooth driver was the problem for me also.  Just go to the Device Manager (Windows key X).  Find your Bluetooth driver.  In my case it was "Dell Wireless 1703 Bluetooth."  Right click on the driver and choose, "Update Driver Software," then select "Search automatically for updated driver."  Your driver will be updated if it is out of date.  Worked for me!

    Problem solved.  Uninstalling and re-installing the Bluetooth driver fixed the problem for me.

    Several applications broke when the 8.1 "upgrade" occurred.  My AV and VPN applications had to be removed and re-installed, and now we can add the Bluetooth driver to the list.

    I'm happy to be over this issue, but am very disappointed in the amount of trouble MS has caused with this very sloppy set of updates.  I have many Win8 clients that will eventually be forced into 8.1, and am not relishing the nightmare to come.

    Problem isolated...

    On my setup, it was the Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 Bluetooth 4.0 + HS Adapter driver.  I disabled Bluetooth, and the problem went away.

    I will report the issue to HP, and ask for a fix.

    This is a long thread but within it there are some good suggestions on how to eliminate the slow boot and slow shutdown problem.

    I fixed my two Win 8.1 installs by deleting certain drivers that have the problem and updating to drivers that do not have the problem. There are details in this thread as to which drivers are causing the problem.

    You can reload and run cleaning programs to no avail. You must get rid of the offending drivers in the Win 8.1 system get the normal fast boot and shutdown times.

    Tested... Network not the issue.  Still takes 2' 07" to power-off (after screen goes dark).  Startup is fine.

    Win8.1 latest everything.

    All HP Envy Touchsmart drivers at latest level.

    Since you can't go back, there is no way to test rollback.

    Will try going back to old power button (C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /f /t 1) as a shortcut, and see if that makes a difference.
