How can you go back? As far as I know you need to have a complete system image from Win 8. I didn't make one! :/

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 8.1 via the in-store update my PC takes a good 3-4 minutes to boot!!! I am on a GA-X79-UD3 + i7-3820 + Samsung SSD 840 for system drive. I have updated all my drivers to Windows 8.1 compatible ones and still. I have checked via Samsung Magician and the drive is using AHCI mode on (Intel PCH) Sata 3 6Gb/s. I have tried restoring my UEFI to default settings and enabling Fast Boot but still?? On Windows 8 it would boot in 5 seconds....
EDIT: Have tried Safe Boot and Clean Boot, still same
EDIT2: Will any Microsoft guy chime in?

Since I use the Charms shutdown I must say that I am almost back to normal, less than a minute to shutdown and about 30 seconds to boot. Long delays occurs if I choose to Restart, from Charms or from the Start menu (ClassicShell), it takes about 3-4 minutes. It is faster to do a Charms Shutdown and power on.
I do not shutdown from the power button or from any othe regular shutdown options (i.e Start menu or Alt+F4 or Win+X ), only from the Charms (mouse pointer in the top right corner, click Settings, then click Power, the Shutdown.). Win+I brings you directly to the Charms Settings with the power button.
It would still be nice that Microsoft answers this thread, just to say hat they are looking into the cause of these long Shutdown and boot up when using Win 8.1 options of shutting down other than Charms.
Happy Holidays and be patient, applies all the Windows update, keep your driver up to date and you will see Win 8.1 is getting better. I had no crash in win 8.1 for months while I had many with Win 8 previously.

2013-12-23T13:04:08+00:00 EVEN SHORTCUT SHUTDOWN HAS STOPPED WORKING. WIN 8.1 is a disaster. I will be going back to 8 with the Stardock front-end as before.

2013-12-23T02:22:12+00:00 Hi, for me the thing that causes this is the Bluetooth-device. Disabling it in Device Manager makes Windows go back to 10 s shutdown, as before 8.1.
In my case the device is Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth 4.0 + HS. Maybe new device drivers will solve the problem.
This also worked for me. My device is Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 Bluetooth 4.0 + HS.

2013-12-20T21:52:14+00:00 I did not hold down power key at startup only at closedown. My sentence was badly worded.
What I meant was that because I held the power key down at shutdown it caused me to have to go through the process of selecting the Keyboard and then select "Continue to Win 8.1" at the next startup.
