Hi,

When I leave the Bitlocker log-in screen inactive for 60 seconds the computer just shuts off. Is this a feature, a bug, or some hardware issue? I already reinstalled Windows.

Up until now I always thought this is a problem only related to my PC / Motherboard (which is a Asus Z87-Plus).

The error - which is easily reproducible - was as follows:

When the Uefi prompt for the Bitlocker password appears and I immediately entered the password, the computer would restart itself.

Only when I waited a little chances would be, that it would work.

I just had to be careful to not run in the 60sec timeout after which the PC would restart too (which is normal behavior).

Now some infos which might be important to know:

    • I completely turn off power for the whole PC (with a switchable power distribution) every night
    • I don't have the latest Bios (which I'm reluctant to install, because that's something I don't change lightly)
    • I didn't update the AMDA00 device driver

What I read should help: enabling virtual memory; unfortunately I already had it enabled (off course on my Bitlocker encrypted 840 Pro) BUT it was set to a fixed 1024MB.

Last week I changed it to "system managed" and since then I haven't encountered the error!!

Ok, it has only been a week, but that's my resolution for now; and hopefully forever^^

I'm having the exact same issue with the following setup:

    Intel Xeon E3 1231 v3

    Asus H97-Pro (UEFI 2705)

    4x 4096MB Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G

Samsung SSD 840 EVO (Firmware EXT0CB6Q)

ASUS Strix NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970

    Enermax MODU87+ 600W

    Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit

I'm running Windows Bitlocker with Hardware Encryption (Windows eDrive) enabled on my EVO 840 SSD. The system runs stable, except when I'm at the password prompt of Bitlocker (random crashes).

Every time it crashes, I get 2 Kernel-PnP warnings in my windows event viewer:

    • Event 219 \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ACPI\PNP0A0A\2&daba3ff&1
    • Event 219 \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device ROOT\WPD\0000

It seems that this device is the "AMDA00 Interface". Updating/reinstalling the ASUS Probe II Sense Driver 1.0.1.0 did NOT help.

It really seems that this is an ASUS-related issue.

I just submitted the needed details to an ASUS-employee, and he promised me to forward my information to Taiwan.

Really, we need more people reporting this to ASUS! Please, open a ticket, submit necessary information!

Yeah its all over the map. It usually comes down to a bios issue. Windows hasn't loaded all the way so your only left with firmware and hardware.

It would be best to contact the device makers for help to let them know there is an issue
