Windows Wireless LAN 802.11 Extensibility Framework using too much CPU power

Recently, my computer's been running significantly slower. A quick look at my task manager showed me that the "Windows Wireless LAN 802.11 Extensibility Framework" was using up 40+% of my processing power, and I have no idea why or how to reduce it. I'm fairly certain it's doing things it shouldn't be doing, but again, I have no idea what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

The Windows Wireless LAN 802.11 Extensibility Framework provides an interface to Windows wireless security and connectivity features for the drivers of wireless network adapters.

Let’s try these methods and check if it fixes the issue.

Method 1: Run System Maintenance troubleshooter and check.

a) Press Windows and X key together and select Control Panel.

b) Click on Troubleshooting.

c) Click on View all option on the left side of the Windows.

d) Click on System Maintenance option.

e) Click on Next and follow the onscreen instructions to troubleshoot the issue.

Method 2: C heck the functionality in safe mode with networking.

Step 1: Start your computer in safe mode with networking and check the CPU usage.

If it works fine in safe mode with networking, let’s place the computer in a clean boot state.

Step 2: Perform clean boot.

Clean boot will help us identify if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue.

    You of course are reading the thread, so you do realize that many of us wrote that it only happens sometimes? (Luckily not very often lately in my case, perhaps once a week.)

    Hi,

    Tonight I removed all versions of the Visual C++ 20XX from Programs & features and installed all the latest versions you mentioned on that webpage. Some packages (2005/2008) were installed twice (or even more) with different sizes and versions. I only kept the latest ones.

    Now have to check it out the coming weeks to see if the issue is realy fixed.
