We all know that Microsoft blew it big time with this update. To bad they wouldn't just own up to it, and admit it. It's not just this update, they're repeating the same thing for August. After fighting with KB2919355 for months and finally getting it to install, I've now got to the August version of KB2919355, KB2975719. This grinds away for what seems like an hour and then reports (you guessed it) "We couldn’t complete the updates, Undoing changes". It seems like Microsoft have learned absolutely nothing from the KB2919355 mess, the latest KB2975719 has exactly the same issue.

I have been trying for months to get update KB2919355 installed and kept getting error 8020002B. Most of the fixes I read required deleting a lot of programs such as virus security and drivers and going through some pretty cryptic admin commands. I did disable virus/malware programs and automatic update, but it did not help. I gave up and decided to spend money for professional support, however before I did that I turned automatic update on and after it tried almost every day for several weeks it finally installed! I have no clue whether or not Microsoft solved the problem, or I accidentally did something that helped. I am extremely unhappy with Microsoft who should have communicated with users and saved us the hours of screwing around with it. My next machine will be an Apple, more expensive or not!!

It's KB2919355 all over again, for those who didn't enjoy it enough the first time. Is spoke too soon. It's actually worse than 2919355 , since it's causing BSODs for some users. I guess this is another one where we'll have to wait several months until Microsoft figure out how to make it work. Back in the 16-bit Windows days everyone used to joke about how it took Microsoft three releases of anything to produce something that worked properly. There have been three releases of 2919355, I guess we need to hide the 2982791 update for three more Patch Tuesdays until MS have figured out how to make it work. (Come to think of it, given the horror stories about it trashing machines, I'm kinda glad the install failed, it could be a blessing in disguise).
