still having this issue. Even on the thread I made, no one has helped.

In the Update History is show a couple failed updates. There were numbers after the statement that the update failed I'm assuming those could be an error code. The last successful update was 12/17/17, but there was a failed update in November. Cumulative update for windows version 1709 for amd64-based systems - failed to install 11/14/17 - 0x80240034 I'm not sure if amd in update notice refers to the processor, but I have an Intel i7 processor. There was a successful update for window version 1709 for x64 systems on 11/14/17 Windows update for windows version 1709 for x64-based systems - failed to install 12/17/17 - 0x800f0922 If anyone knows why the updates failed, please let me know.

Thanks for reply. I don't know what the codes mean. The instructions for this question at the top give certain steps to get info and then says, "Please post here with your error code, so that the Community can try to help guide you appropriately." That's why I noted the code.

Most of the time it is due to spyware or malware. I had the same thing once before. And I solved it by doing a Windows reinstall, but keeping my files. I loaded my important things on to a spare hard drive, so that I could be sure to still have it. But this is my experience with this. And the reason you can't update is because Microsoft doesn't allow to download to a corrupted system. so you must fix the problem before they allow an update.
