Hi Hal and anyone else interested. I've been looking at yours and other similar update issues. I have the same issue on a Dell All in One (is this a common factor ?) less than 6 months old. It will update up to 20 of 38 and then stall. When I switch off and restart it will say "couldn't complete changes and undoing the updates " and I've wasted a huge amount of time for nothing. The problem is, that although many people have reported the problem, no one seems to have an answer. I'm not a techie and when potential solutions are raised, they are generally a waste of time and ,frankly, I don't understand the terminology for most of them ! If anyone can come up with a solution (especially one that I can understand !) please let me know. In the meantime can anyone tell me whether it will be a problem if I simply refuse the updates ? Or perhaps I should simply send the Dell back under warranty ?

There isn't one magic fix here. Sahil above has posted a good general recommendation - do a dism command to clean up that image. The symptoms you see are the operating system having problems updating and it rolls the updates back to where it was. So while what everyone sees on the screen is the same, the underlying problem can be various issues. I also would not recommend refusing the updates as that could place you in a unsecure position. Please try the dism commands listed above and see if that cleans up the system.

No, on reflection I don't think so, although to be fair even looking at it now, it's not that clear an expectation ! I'll try one more time
