This error may appear anytime a Windows Update fails. To investigate possible solutions, we need to start with the specific error code.

We can do this by viewing your update history.

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen (or, if you're using a mouse, pointing to the lower-right corner of the screen and moving the mouse pointer up), and tap or click Settings.
  2. Tap or click Change PC settings, and then Update and recovery.
  3. Tap or click View your update history.

View failed update error code.

Please post here with your error code, so that the Community can try to help guide you appropriately.

    There is no error code

It says that the were successfully installed but they weren't

When it is "Working" on the update it gets to 8% and then it say: "We couldn’t complete the updates, Undoing changes"

I have already done the Update trouble shooter and it says that it found and fixed the problem but it still does not work

    Any suggestions?

Will Windows 10 solve this problem?

Just a few of the error codes are:

Those are KB articles.   Error codes are strings of 8 hex digits sometimes prefixed by 0x.

So I had to reinstall my comp, (Asus q500a) with a new hard drive after the old mechanical, (updated to solid state) began to fail. For the last day or two it has failed most if not all it's updates after getting 8.1 onto it. Crappy thing is, the updates get to 100% before failing.

Just a few of the error codes are:

    KB3019978

    KB2939087

    KB3045171

    KB2979576
