This patch released a couple of days ago might help you install KB2919355: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2969339 Now this is getting silly. I click on the link, it gives you several links to download the right package, I clicked on x64 Windows 8.1 and it takes me to a MSFT page that says "the page you requested cannot be found." Ha! Ha! Here is the link URL: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=9b60f878-01a2-49b4-880d-37020af06ce0 Good trick! You almost had me believing there was a fix.

That is great if you feel Windows 7 is your answer then fine go for it. But there are those of us the like Windows 8.0/8.1 and wouldn't go back for anything. Sure Windows 8.0/8.1 has problems but believe it or not most of us are using it without and serious issues and would gladly help and or all of you to solve any issues you might have, just remember sometimes the impossible takes a little bit longer. I finally got mine to install by starting over and doing a refresh. The refresh worked, took awhile because I had to go back to Windows 8, then update everything then move to 8.1 from the store and update and then the windows 8.1 update installed with no issues. I'm not doing that. I have 60 field PCs to support and calling MSFT is no help; been there, done that. We have downgraded to Win7. If MSFT doesn't fix this, make it easy, then we will skip Win8. Win7 is good for several years.

I hate to say this but, for most people with this issue this is going to be the only option.
