Can you do the following please. Right click the Start button and go to Command Prompt (Admin). Copy/paste: net stop wuauserv and hit Enter. Close the command prompt and then hit Windows key + R, copy/paste: C:\Windows and click OK. Scroll down to SoftwareDistribution , right click it and rename it to SoftwareDistributionOLD Confirm if you get a UAC warning. Close File Explorer. Open another Command Prompt (Admin) and then copy/paste: net start wuauserv and hit Enter. Close the command prompt. Check Windows Updates to see if anything has appeared. If not click the link to Check for updates. Otherwise, try to manually download KB2919355 again. I am sorry but with respect I have to ask what is the point of this forum and the Microsoft moderator if a question with so many views and so many unanswered questions is not resolved in many instances? How does a reputable company like Microsoft treat its customers with such indifference? Computers don't come cheap and the price no doubt includes a cost for the preinstalled operating system forwhich buyers do not seem to be getting much value.

Close the command prompt, re-open it and then run the following command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:c:testmountwindows /LimitAccess This command will use Windows files which are on your computer to repair the store. The /LimitAccess switch prevents the tool from downloading files from Microsoft's servers which is what the /RestoreHealth switch usually does.

This is probably because you already have a partial installation of KB2919355 which the new attempt is unable to overwrite. This results in the installation attempt being undone like you describe. So do the following next. Go to Programs and Features in Control Panel and click the link to "View installed updates". In the next menu, copy/paste: KB2919355 in the Search field top right. If it's installed, it'll appear below and you can uninstall it from there. If it's not there, close Programs and Features, right click the Start button and go to Command Prompt (Admin). Then copy/paste the following command and hit Enter: DISM /online /remove-package /packagename:Package_for_KB2919355~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.14 If successful, use the same command prompt to run the following command: DISM /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup When that one finishes, copy/paste the fiollowing command: DISM /online /cleanup-Image /restorehealth When that completes, install KB2919355 again. Followed these instructions, but it didn't work out. It got stuck at the "restorehealth" command, at 40% for 6 hours. I am letting it sit like that overnight to see if it does anything more. By the way, this is an Intel i-950 machine.

2. Copy/paste: net stop wuauserv and hit Enter.
3. Close the command prompt and then hit Windows key + R, copy/paste: C:\Windows and click OK.
4. Scroll down to SoftwareDistribution, right click it and rename it to SoftwareDistributionOLD
5. Confirm if you get a UAC warning.
6. Close File Explorer.
7. Open another Command Prompt (Admin) and then copy/paste: net start wuauserv and hit Enter.
8. Close the command prompt.
9. Check Windows Updates to see if anything has appeared. If not click the link to Check for updates. Otherwise, try to manually download KB2919355 again. You probably know the URL off by heart, but here it is again just in case: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42335

I am sorry but with respect I have to ask what is the point of this forum and the Microsoft moderator if a question with so many views and so many unanswered questions is not resolved in many instances? How does a reputable company like Microsoft treat its customers with such indifference? Computers don't come cheap and the price no doubt includes a cost for the preinstalled operating system forwhich buyers do not seem to be getting much value.

I appreciate the help. Here is where I stand at this point. The command that was stuck at 40% finally completed after 12 hours. So I then issued the LimitAccess command. Here is what happened. Thoughts?

Close the command prompt, re-open it and then run the following command:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:c:testmountwindows /LimitAccess

This command will use Windows files which are on your computer to repair the store. The /LimitAccess switch prevents the tool from downloading files from Microsoft's servers which is what the /RestoreHealth switch usually does.

This is probably because you already have a partial installation of KB2919355 which the new attempt is unable to overwrite. This results in the installation attempt being undone like you describe.

So do the following next.

Go to Programs and Features in Control Panel and click the link to "View installed updates".

In the next menu, copy/paste: KB2919355 in the Search field top right. If it's installed, it'll appear below and you can uninstall it from there.

If it's not there, close Programs and Features, right click the Start button and go to Command Prompt (Admin). Then copy/paste the following command and hit Enter:

DISM /online /remove-package /packagename:Package_for_KB2919355~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.14

If successful, use the same command prompt to run the following command:

DISM /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

When that one finishes, copy/paste the fiollowing command:

DISM /online /cleanup-Image /restorehealth

When that completes, install KB2919355 again.

Followed these instructions, but it didn't work out. It got stuck at the "restorehealth" command, at 40% for 6 hours. I am letting it sit like that overnight to see if it does anything more. By the way, this is an Intel i-950 machine.
