"Windows resource protection could not start the repair service"
(Microsoft search result)
Oh, and by the way.... I have scanned the computer with MalwareBytes and I have a paid security system (Firewall, Anti-virus, and Spam) that has always been operating on this computer. There have been no known threats identified.
I'm the one who has two identical desktop computers purchased at the same time and one has no issues at all with the KB2929355 installation. Automatic Updates has been selected on both computers and I set them up identically. One is running perfectly while the other one is having all of these problems.
Still no luck with any of the listed options/repairs to download KB2919355, consistently fails, and I did not relish going through the hours and hours with the online level 1 techs that will repeat everything I have already tried. So, I thought to try to 'refresh' the computer, in hopes that even though I'd have to replace my apps it would be much better than a total 'factory default'.
The 'refresh' failed indicating "There was a problem refreshing your PC. No changes were made" to my PC.
I then tried to run a 'scannow' and got the message "Windows resource protection could not start the repair service", so I tried again in safe mode... got the same message. Are these new issues or somehow relating to the KB2919355 problems?
My HP desktop computer came with Windows 8 already installed and I upgraded it to 8.1.
Would like to know what to do about the scannow failures and how else to try 'refresh' without losing my documents and pics. Thank you for any help!
error code KB2966804
Error: We couldn’t complete the updates, Undoing changes. Don’t turn off your computer. I get this code on my screen: 0xc1900101 and 0x40017
Getting super annoyed by this. Every time I try to update and this happens I can't use my laptop for an hour while this is going on!
