Windows 8 has been terrible since i got it, I wanted windows 7 but nothing is sold with it anymore so they can push windows 8.

You've now effectively bricked my new laptop, it's stuck in a loop telling me not to turn it off and never going into windows.

How can I fix this found no helpful advice anywhere.

Hi, Error 800F0922. Let me state that update KB----355 was/is not an issue with me.

I have downloaded manually since posing the question all but KB 2955164 which still exhibits the fault. The manual installs were done with AVG disabled, Automatic downloads disabled and external HDDs disconnected. My troubles began after Jun 18th, no July updates worked on Auto. Thanks for trouble.

I'm not exactly sure what combination of fixes I tried worked, but installation of KB2919355 finally succeeded.  I ran DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth  and the WindowsUpdateDiagnostic several times each.  I installed other updates one at a time, followed by reboots and re-checks for updates.  One of the roadblocks was the Flash update but once that installed, it was smooth sailing for KB2919355.  Oh, and I disabled AVG throughout the process.

Coincidentally, once KB2919355 was installed the many July updates appeared and they too installed successfully.

First off, I commend everyone who has attempted to help me with my problem.  All the folks on this thread are great and the sacrifice of their time and expertise is greatly appreciated.

Secondly, this is not a user issue.  I build, image, repair hundreds of computers.  I currently support 60 laptops that we downgraded (upgraded) to Windows 7.  I cannot have field people unable to work for several hours while their system goes through the "unable to install, please wait" cycle.

Working with both MSFT and the nice folks on this thread, I have done all the steps.  Done it all repeatedly.  Nothing works.  Windows 7 is stable and works fine, and there is no "mandatory update" that won't install, and costs thousands of man hours to suffer through its failures as it rolls back (with no error code) to the original OS.

Third, this Windows 8.1 Update IS NOT my problem.  This is MSFT's problem.  I have wasted enough time on this issue.  MSFT needs to fix it.  If they won't, they will find people like me who will migrate our applications to more stable OSs (i.e., Linux).

Fourth, as a stock-holder, I find this to be intolerable.  I wait each day, hoping there will be a class-action lawsuit.  Those of you who are suffering through this... think about it.  Band together.  MSFT says we are a minority... perhaps that needs to be challenged through the legal system.  Just a thought...
