My error codes in trying latest Windows updates since 15th May 2014: 80070002 (7 times) 80246013 (1 time) 80070001 (2 times) 80246007 (1 time) Incidentally, my start screen does show the new power button and magnifying glass - so am I updated or not? The update always tells me it's failed and keeps trying.

doesn't work, doesn't work, doesn't work!!! None of the **** mentioned works, i've spent way too many hours on this. I'd send Microsoft a bill for my time if I thought they'd even read it, but for now I'm shutting off windows updates, and suggesting my clients hold off upgrading to windows 8/8.1. I'll check back in 6 months to see if they EVER find a solution to their problems.

I wish I too were running Win 7. Had my new Window's 8 computer for 5 days - been on the phone with support techs twice, getting Office 2010 Pro reinstalled and now, after repeated stalled updates, got a corrupt and missing file notice. Now "refreshing" windows for the second time. Horrible waste of time. Why is there no software fix? Not everyone is a technician.

I ran the startup repair tool from the boot USB I have and it system restored to before I installed the first batch of updates... ... So still no fix to the slow computer problems after applying KB2919355 update
