I'm not getting any error code. That's part of what makes this so frustrating!

2014-05-19T22:06:49+00:00 I have been working with this update since April. I had numerous chat sessions, and I even was on the phone with level 2 support. Here is the log of things from lat few days:
@ Altan
Did they ask for any diagnostics? AnalyzeComponentStore perhaps? Something with more detail?

2014-05-19T21:46:58+00:00 What about backing out of W8.1 to W8.0?
You're kidding, right?
No. If you can uninstall or restore or rebuild to W8.0 that supposedly will be supported for much longer. The problem you are facing is that there will only be one "bleeding" edge.

customers on Windows 8 have 2 years, until January 12, 2016, to move to Windows 8.1 in order to remain supported.

Going back to the Support Lifecycle document I guess we can infer from that that "general availability of W8.1" is deemed to be January 12, 2014?

Customers have 24 months to move to Windows 8.1 after General Availability in order to remain supported.

2014-05-19T21:27:37+00:00 Nevermind. Must have been a refresh, its back. So, again, if you have Malwarebytes Pro and Spybot Pro, do you REALLY need/care if you don't get MSFT updates every month? Can't you just bide your time, and wait for the opportune moment (when MSFT has fixed the bugs)? What's the downside?

There is no quick fix here folks. If you cannot get this update installed as is, you are facing rebuilds or repairs.
I find it not only laughable, but also disrespectful that the average, or even tech savvy MS
user, would be expected to find a way to trouble shoot this install themselves or completely restore their machine.
I really hope Microsoft comes through with a fix... How embarrassing for a integral update to have so many documented problems.
