So, does this update issue also affect Intel processors? Yes, but it doesn't "brick" them. It's a fix for a potential hacking weakness. I have heard it can slow the Intel processor down some.

The MS level 2 tech said besides mine, there was another person she knew with an intel processor that had trouble with updates. So, either it is the same issue as the AMD processor computers or a separate issue. MS engineers are aware of this and working on it.

I'm having the same issue, trying to install the KB2919355 update and it will tell me to restart, which I do, and then it says couldn't complete the updates undoing changes and that literally takes hours. I've tried almost a dozen times to get this update to install, but it refuses, I'm at my wits end with it. It says I have not tried to install updates so it doesn't give me any error codes. Only the couldn't complete the updates every time I try. I'd like some help figuring and fixing this.

Mine definitely says "We couldn't complete the updates" as opposed to "Failed to configure windows updates" I am getting error codes but they seem to change every time the update is attempted. For example my last three attempts were 800f0922, 80200001 and then back to 800f0922. At various other times I have had 8024000B, 80090017, 80246007, and the dreaded 80073712 to name just a few. I have wasted two weeks of my life trying to find a work around for this crappy piece of software issued by MS. I am also in the same boat as you with regard to the 8.1 ISO. Bought the machine with Windows 8 already installed, upgraded to 8.1 via the Windows Store so don't have a product key for the 8.1 installation. If I do end up having to wipe this computer you can bet that the new OS won't be Microsoft.
