This error may appear anytime a Windows Update fails. To investigate possible solutions, we need to start with the specific error code.
We can do this by viewing your update history.
- Swipe in from the right edge of the screen (or, if you're using a mouse, pointing to the lower-right corner of the screen and moving the mouse pointer up), and tap or click Settings.
- Tap or click Change PC settings, and then Update and recovery.
- Tap or click View your update history.
View failed update error code.
Please post here with your error code, so that the Community can try to help guide you appropriately.

2015-09-08T17:25:53+00:00 Had this problem for weeks now, when I go to settings and try to update windows it doesn't connect and says error but when I go to the error details it is blank. Help! It had been undoing the changes for the past 3 hours and is very frustrating

I'm having serious problem with the error message you are just addressing above. I had wanted to install visual studio since some time but the installation has not been successful complaining that I should install the these particular updates before my installation could work well. Well I'm following your advice ASAP. The error codes are as follows:
- Windows 8.1 update for x64-based systems (KB2919355) -failed to install. This update failed to install on 9/4/2015 at 4:28pm with error code 80070002
- security updates for windows 8.1 for x64-based systems (KB2961908) without KB29119355- failed to install on 9/4/2015; This update failed to install on 9/4/2015 at 3:44pm with error code 800F0922
