Error: We couldn’t complete the updates, Undoing changes. Don’t turn off your computer.

I appreciate the attempt, but have no clue what any of this means or how to do it. People asked me to copy and paste the error codes I am getting in trying (unsuccessfully) to get windows updates to download and install. I have no idea how to do that. I cannot copy and paste using Ctrl C and Ctrl V; it will not copy. I do not see how to access an "Edit menu" or what "Mark" means. The reference to a cmd window makes no sense to me since I am seeing these error codes when I try to download and install -- not in a cmd window.

The impenetrability of Windows has changed little since the baffling days of C:/ and yet Microsoft will not allow you to contact help without paying a ransom -- even though this is a new laptop with Windows 8.1 and I should be able to get some comprehensible support without being gouged. Any further clues would be most appreciated

In a cmd window, to Copy you can right-click Mark, then drag, then press Enter.  Alternatively you can use the Edit menu for its Mark command and move the text pointer to where you want to start your excerpt with your arrow keys then create your selection by pressing Shift- and using your arrow keys.  Then again, press Enter to put the selection into the Clipboard.

This error may appear anytime a Windows Update fails. To investigate possible solutions, we need to start with the specific error code.

We can do this by viewing your update history.

1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen (or, if you're using a mouse, pointing to the lower-right corner of the screen and moving the mouse pointer up), and tap or click Settings.
2. Tap or click Change PC settings, and then Update and recovery.
3. Tap or click View your update history.

I really need help with my software. I used my laptop earlier and then I put sleep, after I wanted to turn it on again it updates program. So, it's stuck in the blue screen, saying "We couldn't complete the updates ..." and so on, how to turn it on quickly?
