8.1 install error 0xC1900101-0x40019 and 0x80070652

Intel HD graphics driver ver 8.15.10.2900 on my HP pavilion DM4 which has been upgraded; win 7 -> win 8 => win 8.1 with only minor glitches (finger printer reader took some hands on to get It to work under 8.1)

My previous issues this thread, was an HP envy 23 all in one touch screen which also contains an Intel HD graphics driver and a simple win update to the latest Intel HD graphics driver version solved my 8.1 install issue, as documented this thread, witht he envy 23. 

Give that I have different hardware all around, my advice is of little help to your situation.

Depending upon how persistent you choose to be, given that you have correctly narrowed the issue to an intel driver and you have correctly identified that SOME existing intel driver will work on 8.1 with your hardware platform, the 8.1 goal is obtainable, but I can't provide you a path to the goal.

While our specs on each machine are different my problem is with the graphics driver which I believe is the same as yours.  Did you note that you updated from the 9.18.10.3234 version on your Envy, which I believe has the same Intel card, the Intel HD Graphics 4400?  If so, how were you able to install the Intel update?

I did NOT note what the FROM version of the INTEL HD 4000 (not 4400) driver was while on win 8.0, HP envy 23.  The version currently is 10.18.10.3325 on win 8.1.  I reviewed update history and unfortunately, it appears the 8.1 install clears history.

Regarding "how were you able to install the Intel update" ... numerous times during the 8.1 install failure I had gone to win update and ensured "everything" was current with MS and also the HP site for all applications, bios and drivers.

Visually taking note what was failing I suspected a video driver issue so began to concentrate on the that portion of the hardware settings.  Some time after new years, the right click on the driver, UPDATE action informed me a new driver was available.  Updating and then attempting win 8.1 install then worked, as documented this thread (back page 15 if memory serves, this response is getting posted to page 17 currently).

I'll match you install for install on the number of times an 8.1 install has been attempted :)

Repaired this problem by downloading and running FixMyPC.  You can get a Trial version on their site.

same problem with the same Lenovo **** :/
