8.1 install error 0xC1900101-0x40019 and 0x80070652

well this has been extremely frustrating but I believe I've resolved my issue. I had this error popping up a billion times:  Error message 0x80070652; i was ready to smash my laptop. 

i went into startup manager and disabled "EVERYTHING" except for my graphics (nvidia) and dropbox, restarted the computer and when i ran the update it finally went through. what must have been happening, one of the things running in startup, either adobe updater, or Microsoft office uploader was preventing the 8.1 update from starting. hopefully this resolves your problems as well.

I have a Sony VAIO Tap 11.  I updated essentially out of the box (only added a mouse).  The first time I tried the Windows 8.1 upgrade I rec'd a 0xC1900101 - 0x2000C.  I did all the windows updates, all the VAIO updates, more windows updates, more VAIO updates (until there were no more to do).

Then I would get 0xC1900101 - 0x40019, over and over again when attempting to upgrade to 8.1.

Then I did the following

• Same as above quoted suggestion, I disabled everything in the Startup Manager (the Startup tab in the Task Manager for those looking for it).  Note that "Kaspersky Anti-Virus" refused to Disable, so I left it alone.
• Reading other's suggestions regarding peripherals  I turned off the Tap 11 VAIO keyboard and the Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse (t630).  This left nothing connected but power.

The upgrade succeeded.  Not sure if I needed to do both of the above, no going back now.

Try to delete the store cache. In order to do so you can perform the next steps:

1. In the desktop interface press Windows key+ R.
2. Typ WSReset.exe

 

Been there, done that, didn't get the Tee shirt and ended up with0xC1900101-0x40019

The 0x40019 is referencing a 'location' and it will take a Microsoft support/development asset to identify where that location is that is failing.  There is most likely a log which given sufficient amount of expertise, can pinpoint the specific driver that is failing and permit a) recreation with debugging information to identify the reason for the failure and point to the OEM (most likely HP in the case of my Envy 23).

If anyone in the thread can elaborate on the 'logs' they have located which hints at, more specifically than then number 0x40019, the specific driver that fails, it would expedite the analysis.  To date, after quite a bit of wandering through every *.log file with a relevant time/date stamp, I have been unable to isolate to a specific DLL/EXE.

HP should be all over this failure, but a search on hp.com for 0xC1900101-0x40019 yields little.

For what it is worth, HP pavilion dm4 upgrade to 8.1 from win 7 worked <almost> flawlessly.  The 'almost' disclaimer was for the finger print reader which required some work to return to functionality after loading 8.1 successfully.

Aye, me too. This seems to be affecting quite a few people. I know from how the internet works, if there is one comment, there are 20 or more silent readers, and there are lots of commentators on this thread...

I didn't try the different ways of installing like you did. After over a month, still not able to upgrade to 8.1. Frustrating.

Hopefully, someone from Microsoft will look into this.
