I tried to install 8.1, and after downloading and appearing to install, my PC hang for about 2 hours.  I reboooted and recieved a message that 8.1 could not be installed, and reverting to 8.0.  Error message 0xC1900101-0x40019

This morning I again tried to install from the Store, and immediately got a message This app was not installed.  Error message 0x80070652

Any idea as to how to install 8.1?

Chuck

    Almost the same with me:

Update process went through, I acceptex EULA, typed in my Win8 password and my Live ID and then the process got stuck with the screen telling me "creating account" (resp. simila in German "Konto wird angelegt". After roughly 20 mins. even the display turned dark and I couldn#t wake it up again. Switching off the PC and reastaqrting it made Windows go backt to my running Win8. at least that worked ...

after accepting the conditions of contract and set preferences (seemed it was going fine with 8.1 installation), the screen went black and stayed that way for hours. I rebooted and I recived the error.

I had same problem. I ran the compatibility check which highlighted avast antivirus and something to do with office. Installed those from control panel, restarted the compooder and the 8.1 install worked :-)

    ummm......yeah....that's not it.

Running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit (Upgrade from Win 7 Home 64-Bit) on an ASUS K55N Laptop.

Have tried many things and even disabled all startup services except for Microsoft only items and continually get this error code....as well as downloads that stop and restart all the time instead of working.

Researching this issue.......it seems Microsoft has a dud on their hand as this issue is occurring for alot of people.

    FIX IT MICROSOFT!!!

Please release a standalone installer for 8.1 (that uses our existing Windows 8 Keys) or just release a standalone 8.1 Patch installer..........Using the STORE to rollout the 8.1 Update is a HUGE Mistake.

    Hi,

This issue usually occurs during Out Of Box Experience (OOBE) stage of installation.

I suggest you to try installing again and make sure to accept the End User License Agreement (EULA).

    Thanks,
