Two finger right click does not work

I recently installed Windows 8.1 and the two finger right click gesture on my touchpad stopped working. Before the update it was working fine. I do not know how to fix it.

Hey, I personally found this way for the 2 Finger-click to work out after searching for 4-5 months ( I am assuming your touchpad is Synaptics; as mine is) :

  1. To re-enable two finger tap, press Windows key + R, enter "regedit" then press enter, and on the left pane browse to the following location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\TouchPadPS2

  1. In the right pane, double click on 2FingerTapAction and change the value to a "2" (Hexadecimal) for right click, or a "4" (Hexadecimal) for middle click. 
  2. Double click on 2FingerTapPluginID and clear any value it may have.
  3. In the right pane, find the MultiFingerTapFlags key and change it from a 2 to a 3.
  4. Additionally, if you want to enable three finger tap for middle click, double click on 3FingerTapAction and change the value to a "4", also clear any value for 3FingerTapPluginID and set 3FingerTapPluginActionID to "0".
  5. Restart your PC and you can see the changes well enough.

Note: You should be careful enough while changing the keys in the Registry, as any deletion or wrong entry may create problems in running Windows.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\TouchPadSMB2c

    Editing the registry worked for me. 

    Bear with me as this document will be long in the hopes of giving Microsoft, Synaptics, and HP the best possible way to resolve this issue.

    I have a HP Envy 15-j003 cl laptop. A week ago I had a HP Envy 15-j063cl. I switched systems as this one was offered with more memory and cheaper during a black friday deal.

    On the j063 system I had no problem updating to 8.1 and the touchpad two finger tap for the right click context menus worked fine afterwards and after all updates were applied.

    On the j003 system however doing the same process I lost the two finger tap functionality after updating.

    Checking the HP support site both computers use the same exact set of drivers for the touchpad.

    I believe what is happening is that durring the update to 8.1 the touchpad registry entry for "2fingertapaction" is not getting properly migrated/modified during the update.

    After reading a few posts on this site about the problem I went thru the registry on this system, the j003 system, and found I believe 4 registry entries that were "2fingertapaction". Only one of them was incorrect. It showed an incorrect value of 0 instead of 2. After changing this value and rebooting the system this issue has so far been resolved for me. I will wait to say this is a final resolution until after I have rebooted a few times and checking the touchpad settings in control panel.

    I had previously uninstalled and re installed the latest touchpad drivers available from HP and this did not resolve the problem.

    I belive it is also a possibility that the current touchpad settings utility is not correctly populating all registry areas as the one area I found with an incorrect value of 0 was there even after reinstalling drivers and selecting a different option for 2 finger tap action, then reselecting the right click menu as the action to perform.

    This resolution should work, at least temporarily to resolve this issue with any of the latest HP ENVY laptops using the Synaptics touchpad. I will be testing this fix by trying to set things differently with the Synaptics settings manager and setting it back to 2 finger tapping opening the right click context menu and see if it still works or I need to go back in and fix the registry again.

    Same problem in my HP Pavilion 15-N019TUand i updated the driver of the touch pad and still 

    there is problem in right click with two fingers.
