10/8/2013 Windows Update has Jacked my PC
On 10/9/2013...yesterday...I installed the large Windows Update for October. During the reboot phase, my computer Blue Screened. First time that has ever happened to me in 20 years with a Windows Update. So I had to force shutdown and start the pc. Booted up again normally..blue screen. Tried again in Safe Mode and it appeared to finish finally.
So that is an issue of itself. However, the Windows Update appears to have caused me some serious problems this past day. My computer constantly freezes after some duration of usage, no matter what I'm doing. (What I mean by "freeze" is "crash", but not BSOD...just can't do anything, even at-tab or alt-cntl-delete) PC crashed/froze 4-5 times after the update and now.
This is the first major issue I've ever had with a WU and I've no clue what to do. I did some Googling and there does appear to a lot of people having problems with this update and some mention of KB...2330, although I've no clue if that specific update is my problem or not.
Help would be appreciated.
(On a sidenote, I find this whole "community support" tool to not be very user-friendly at all and cumbersome. For one , the sort feature just flat does not work)

2013-10-14T07:31:07+00:00 How do you fix it when you can't get your computer to run properly! Automatic upgrades which are faulty should NOT be sent out- obviously! Why is it that on tyhe forth day I am still having problems!
Aah now having started in safe mode I am getting a 'failure to configure upgrades- reverting to ear;lier' this didn't happen before!
BUT it is now stuck on the Welcome screen!
Had to force a shut down!
on restart it jumped to 'resuming Windows' and went to the not so 'Welcome' screen with its wirring circle!
Now it doesn't want to shut down! Remove the battery time!

2013-10-14T07:22:49+00:00 I have been having the same problems over the last few days- some of the updates didnn't even get to the configuration stage. I have Not been using any USB ports on my laptop. Having tried to clear the problem - using FixIt, sfc/scannnow etc in safe mode- with little success, I eventually got my laptop to run again (I don't know why!) BUT this morning, Microsoft crashed the program I was running and decided to load the upgrades - again! I fdon't know which ones (no codes were shown) but as I said the computer frooze while tring to download and configure teh upgrades. After some time I tried to stop the computer, but it didn't even shut down properly- I had to remove the battery!
This is a problem belonging to Microsoft, the upgrades a re a load of sh*t! They should sort it out-WITHOUT ANY COST TO US!!
It is interesting that the upgrades didn't affect my desktop (that I am using now) which uses XP not W7!

2013-10-14T03:33:17+00:00 I downloaded the October updates on 3 different computers with no issues on the first two. Unfortunately, my home desktop has turned out to be a quite different matter. I downloaded them on the night of October 10th. There was a glitch with KB2862335, but stopping and restarting the download appeared to fix that.
The next morning, we had no internet access on the desktop. The laptop and our Apple devices were able to access our home network. We called Comcast, our internet service provider and they walked us through various activities with no change. We checked our cables, unplugged our modem and restarted the computer. We checked the ipconfiguration and reset it. We checked to see if our driver (RealTek GBE Family Controller) was up-to-date. Later, I updated the driver by downloading it onto a thumb drive and installing it on the desktop. We also checked to see if the Internet Protocal Bindings (TCP/IP 4; TCP/IP 6) were on the correct settings. Everything that we checked was apparently correct and up-to-date, Comcast was therefore unable to offer a solution.
I checked with Microsoft who said that there was no reason why the updates should have interfered with the internet connectivity.
I checked with HP, the manufacturer of the computer. They claimed that they could help me for a price since my warranty had expired. More pertinently, they also informed me that they'd had a number of complaints about these updates.
I've attempted a system restore from before the downloads took place. Not only was this unsuccessful, it ended up making it impossible to log on to my user account on the desktop. I also uninstalled KB2862335 and KB2862330.
The error message that I am getting from windows is that my RealTek driver is out-of-date and my Bindings are not appropriately checked. Both of these assertions are incorrect.
Right now, I am looking for a solution that is not expensive and ideally is less of a nuisance than reinstalling windows.
Thank you in advance to anyone with suggestions.
