Have had the same issues with Windows 7 Starter on Dell Mini and Vista Home on Acer desktop.
Tried to restore system but failed, unable to get anything new to install.
Microsoft have done a number this time.

On 10/9/2013...yesterday...I installed the large Windows Update for October. During the reboot phase, my computer Blue Screened. First time that has ever happened to me in 20 years with a Windows Update. So I had to force shutdown and start the pc. Booted up again normally..blue screen. Tried again in Safe Mode and it appeared to finish finally.
So that is an issue of itself. However, the Windows Update appears to have caused me some serious problems this past day. My computer constantly freezes after some duration of usage, no matter what I'm doing. (What I mean by "freeze" is "crash", but not BSOD...just can't do anything, even at-tab or alt-cntl-delete) PC crashed/froze 4-5 times after the update and now.
This is the first major issue I've ever had with a WU and I've no clue what to do. I did some Googling and there does appear to a lot of people having problems with this update and some mention of KB...2330, although I've no clue if that specific update is my problem or not.
Help would be appreciated.
(On a sidenote, I find this whole "community support" tool to not be very user-friendly at all and cumbersome. For one , the sort feature just flat does not work)

Do you have more than one computer or tablet that can verify the internet problem is not just with your PC? The windows patch issues will not effect your internet service.

2013-10-15T04:07:12+00:00 With that many issues, if I were you, I would back up all your user files then use your recovery discs you made when you purchased your computer, reformat the hard drive, in the process and restore your computer to factory fresh state.

2013-10-15T02:07:32+00:00 i have 64bit win 7 HP pavillion also got a blue screen shutdown after 10 /8 updates installed . after restart i lost my hauppage tuner driver signature. had to system restore to 9/30,then a startup repair after that. i hid kb286 4202,2335,2330, all the usb security updates. so far its working ok.

2013-10-15T00:28:45+00:00 I got same issue with my Win 7 64bit freezes randomly... Try to restore from back up but it failed... I really don want to reinstall my windows. i hope MS provide fix asap!!!
