10/8/2013 Windows Update has Jacked my PC

On 10/9/2013...yesterday...I installed the large Windows Update for October.   During the reboot phase, my computer Blue Screened.  First time that has ever happened to me in 20 years with a Windows Update.  So I had to force shutdown and start the pc.   Booted up again normally..blue screen.  Tried again in Safe Mode and it appeared to finish finally.

So that is an issue of itself.  However, the Windows Update appears to have caused me some serious problems this past day.   My computer constantly freezes after some duration of usage, no matter what I'm doing.   (What I mean by "freeze" is "crash", but not BSOD...just can't do anything, even at-tab or alt-cntl-delete)  PC crashed/froze 4-5 times after the update and now.

This is the first major issue I've ever had with a WU and I've no clue what to do.  I did some Googling and there does appear to a lot of people having problems with this update and some mention of KB...2330, although I've no clue if that specific update is my problem or not.

Help would be appreciated.

(On a sidenote, I find this whole "community support" tool to not be very user-friendly at all and cumbersome.  For one , the sort feature just flat does not work)

    Hi Brend,

    The referred updates are the security updates, these will enhance the security features. I would recommend you to install all updates. If you do not wish install, you can hide them to avoid from installing.

    **Note:**It is not recommended to hide the important updates as they are essential for the security purpose of the Windows Operating System.

    Thank you for responding to my query.

    Yesterday I updated all available updates apart from the problem KB's:-

    KB2847311

    KB2855844

    KB2862330

    KB2862335

    KB2864058

    KB2864202

    KB2868038

    KB2876284

    KB2883150

    KB2884256

    I also ignored the IE11 update as I have read that there are also problems with that version of IE, so for the moment I'll stick with IE10.

    I shall await further news from you regarding the stability of the above updates.

    I do not want to have a complete 'reinstall' again.

    Hi Brenda,

    Windows updates enhance the features and security of the computer. Let’s go ahead and install Stand alone update one by one by downloading from Microsoft Download Center. Mean while, I will try to get more information about the updates you have mentioned.

    I've posted this a few times now, but so far, no response.

    Just wondered if you'd had anymore news on the update problems?

    Could someone please respond to this query?

    I need to install some updates but until I know which ones to ignore I cannot do it.My OS is Windows 7 SP1 64 bit.

    Since having the BSOD back in Sept/Oct 2013, which required a complete reinstall ( I do not agree with this action unless it is the last resort), I have been watching the Forum to see if the following updates are now safe to install:-

    KB2847311

    KB2855844

    KB2862330

    KB2862335

    KB2864058

    KB2864202

    KB2868038

    KB2876284

    KB2883150

    KB2884256

    I gather that :-

    KB2864202, KB2862330  and KB2862335 are still not resolved?

    I would very much appreciate any help with these updates.

    They are all unticked in my updates and will stay that way until I have confirmation that they are all safe.
