10/8/2013 Windows Update has Jacked my PC

On 10/9/2013...yesterday...I installed the large Windows Update for October.   During the reboot phase, my computer Blue Screened.  First time that has ever happened to me in 20 years with a Windows Update.  So I had to force shutdown and start the pc.   Booted up again normally..blue screen.  Tried again in Safe Mode and it appeared to finish finally.

So that is an issue of itself.  However, the Windows Update appears to have caused me some serious problems this past day.   My computer constantly freezes after some duration of usage, no matter what I'm doing.   (What I mean by "freeze" is "crash", but not BSOD...just can't do anything, even at-tab or alt-cntl-delete)  PC crashed/froze 4-5 times after the update and now.

This is the first major issue I've ever had with a WU and I've no clue what to do.  I did some Googling and there does appear to a lot of people having problems with this update and some mention of KB...2330, although I've no clue if that specific update is my problem or not.

Help would be appreciated.

(On a sidenote, I find this whole "community support" tool to not be very user-friendly at all and cumbersome.  For one , the sort feature just flat does not work)

    I have a theory.  I bet the crashes and errors occur when an attempt is made to install the USB related patches when any of the USB ports and thus drivers are in use, like from a USB mouse, which I have. I use a remote Logitech mouse.  Anyone care to test this theory by installing the USB related patches to a lap top computer (Windows 7 or Vista) that does not have any device plugged into the USB ports??

     Steps to test USB port conflict theory :

    1)  Disconnect all devices from USB ports.

    2)  Restart your computer.

    3)  Install all patches or individual patches that have failed from the 10/08/2013 Windows Update Release.

    4)  If your computer does not crash after the patches are installed and your computer auto restarts fine, then plug in a USB device, like a mouse, then restart your computer and see if it remains fine with no errors on restart.

    Questions:

    1)  Are any desktop computer users experienceing crash/conflict/failed patches from the 10/08/2013 Windows Update?

    2)  Do all users crash/conflict/failed patches from the 10/08/2013 Windows Update have a device connected to the USB port(s) during installatoin of the update particularly a remote/radio mouse?

    1. Has an user experienced crash/conflict/failed patches from the 10/08/2013 Windows Update not have any device plugged into the USB ports during the Windows Update install - all USB clear?

    Please respond to the above questions.  Your answers may help Microsoft resolve this issue.

    I have been having problems with the 10/8 Updates also.  I'm using Vista Home Premium 64 bit on a Toshiba Satellite.  10 of the 23 Updates installed and I have been trying to install the last 13 ever since. I keep receiving error messages 8000FFF and 80071A90.  I tried installing the Updates 1 at a time - nada.  Tried using the Safe Mode - nada - the Update file disappeared. Tried the Clean Start - nada.  Tried FixIt - nada again - got an error message from FixIt.  Finally contacted MS Service Techs - twice - but timed out waiting for them to call me (seems they were trying to chat online when I had requested a phone call).  Is it worth the $99 they want, to have the problem fixed?  This thread sounds like MS doesn't have a fix or else they would have published it.

    Please mention what version of Windows you are running, including whether it is 32/64-bit.

    Please post the exact make and model of your computer.

    There have been some very serious problems reported across the Internet with the October 2013 Microsoft USB software updates on certain Dell and Toshiba computers (... and possibly more makes. I have not read the entire Internet today).

    Many sites cite October 2013 Microsoft Updates KB2862330 and/or KB2862335 because they change previously-working USB drivers to pig swill.

    Symptoms I have read about (but not experienced) include problems with Keyboard, Mouse, PC  Video Cameras, Digital Cameras, Soundblaster, USB sticks, backup devices and Skype. The most serious issue reported is where the PC will not boot.

    I am on a separate thread and sent my crash dump file to Microsoft today.  Hopefully they will be able to figure out what the issue is.  I did not attempt to install the patches again after the blue screen.  I am awaiting Microsoft support's response.

    Exactly what happened to me. First time Windows update failed for me. All the updates on 10/8 failed initially, then installed eventually, save one KB2864202. Repeated attempts to install this rogue update all fail. 

    Hey MS, something's haywire with the 10/8 updates.... Win7 SP1

    I use Win 7 SP1 and I have a problem with updates. This update patches couldn't install. Then I downloaded them from Microsoft web site and again all update patches failed.
