Flight Sim X will not work on Windows 8.1

I have the official release of 8.1 now, downloaded last night and FSX still does not work.

I can get through the menus but when I click to fly now, it drops me back to the desktop and gives me a fatal error.

I have tried:

 1. A system restore back to windows 8, followed by the 8.1 upgrade.

 2. Fresh install of FSX with no add-ons

 3. Tried 'run as admin' and all different compatibility modes.

It still does not work...FS2004 works great. FSX did work in Windows 8.0 fine.

This needs to be fixed, otherwise Microsoft will have killed FSX.

    I certainly have to agree on this one. The wave of SHAME should be a Tsunami at Microsoft right now. But my granny used to say, "You can't shame a FOOL."

    I have been running FSX on Windows 8.1 for over six months works fine with a rare "stop working. Best "run as Administrator"

    Now I want to try it on Windows 10 not sure how it will work.

    Hi there

    I am too late to reply but may I tell u that Fsx DX10 is filled with bugs

    After a few days of using DX10, a wierd stuff appears after Loading FSX

    and that damages all the addon and default planes in fsx.... especially B747-400

    That gives me goosebumps... That is why most of the flight simmers keep the DX10 off...

    I have not had a problem with DX10.

    However, I have now moved to the Steam version.

    Thanks for the update. After many attempts I got it working fine. But what is the Steam Version and where can I get it??
