I have the official release of 8.1 now, downloaded last night and FSX still does not work.
I can get through the menus but when I click to fly now, it drops me back to the desktop and gives me a fatal error.
I have tried:
1. A system restore back to windows 8, followed by the 8.1 upgrade.
2. Fresh install of FSX with no add-ons
3. Tried 'run as admin' and all different compatibility modes.
It still does not work...FS2004 works great. FSX did work in Windows 8.0 fine.
This needs to be fixed, otherwise Microsoft will have killed FSX.

Mine works fine in windows 8.1. I did a clean windows 8.1 install.. Microsoft should be fined for releasing such a lame 8.1 upgrade to the public ..Thanks anyway
hi makxx. try my method of installing into new folder on c drive....and not default windows 8 64bit one see if it works for you...rob.
try doing what i said. create a new folder on c drive and dont let it install to 64 bit default folder. hope this works.... rob.
