Error Code 0x80072efd in Windows 8.1 Store.

Hey there,

Whenever I open the store, i get and error coded 0x80072efd, saying that 'We weren't able to connect to the store. This might have happened because the server problem or the network connection might have timed out.' Please help me out here. Note that i updated my factory installed windows 8 by downloading the win 8.1 pro from MS Store. Also my other apps are working fine and able to connect to the internet and I checked my firewall and Store is allowed in the 'Allow apps' option of Firewall config.

Hi Nayan,

Sorry for the late reply.

Check if proxy connection is enabled. If yes, then disable the proxy connection and check the status.

Follow the steps to disable proxy:

a. Open Internet Explorer.

b. Click Tools and then click Internet Options.

c. Click on the Connections tab.

d. Click on the LAN Settings button.

e. Then uncheck the option Use a proxy server for your LAN.

f. Click Apply.

If that does not help, Microsoft has come up with a little tool. You can download the Microsoft Account Troublefooter from here:

    Hi

    I found a solution for (my version of) this problem.  My tray icon never showed the red X, but if I clicked on the icon, the popup showed a bigger icon with a red X, and said "Not connected".  As in your case, Internet worked, but I'm unable to setup a VPN connection because it insists on using a non-existent modem, obviously because I'm "not connected" (which I am). 

    I monitored the processes running the NlaSvc and Netprofm services (using ProcMon), and noticed that both were denied read/write access to subkeys within the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList hierarchy.  (Some permissions will not be accessed but it will fix the issue)

    The processes were running as NetworkService and LocalService, respectively, so I tried adding full access for these service accounts to the entire subkey mentioned above.  Notice that permissions are not automatically inherited in the registry, so you may need to explicitly "replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object".

    Within seconds, Network and Sharing Center tells me I'm connected to my domain.  

    A reboot was required to fix the tray.

    I solved my problem when I disabled the Proxy setting.  That solved my problems.  I was using a Add stopper from popping up and that added a Proxy setting.
