Hey there,

Whenever I open the store, i get and error coded 0x80072efd, saying that 'We weren't able to connect to the store. This might have happened because the server problem or the network connection might have timed out.' Please help me out here. Note that i updated my factory installed windows 8 by downloading the win 8.1 pro from MS Store. Also my other apps are working fine and able to connect to the internet and I checked my firewall and Store is allowed in the 'Allow apps' option of Firewall config.

Hi Nayan,

Sorry for the late reply.

Check if proxy connection is enabled. If yes, then disable the proxy connection and check the status.

Follow the steps to disable proxy:

a. Open Internet Explorer.

b. Click Tools and then click Internet Options.

c. Click on the Connections tab.

d. Click on the LAN Settings button.

e. Then uncheck the option Use a proxy server for your LAN.

f. Click Apply.

If that does not help, Microsoft has come up with a little tool. You can download the Microsoft Account Troublefooter from here:

Hope this helps.

First of all, let me say:  "FINALLY, A SIMPLE SOLUTION to a really stupid problem'.  And also, I will say THANK YOU to RajithR.

However, I will also rant about this:

After hours & hours of scouring websites (most from Microsoft forums like this one), it is striking & absurd that the ultimate answer is so simple.  This solution is is easy & it works for me, yet it became a CONTORTED QUEST just to find it.

In this 'quest' to get 'Store' to work, many people have wasted so much time, reinstalled Windows & endured the same old frustration that keeps a strong (& still growing) dislike for Microsoft.  Microsoft is kinda the new General Motors of bad quality...funny to think that GM has actually gotten better, but it took decades for them to regain a modicum of respect from the public.  Microsoft is going on 2 decades of buggy products (the first decade or so was forgivable because it was new territory...& early Windows was simple & pretty good for the time).  However, I don't think Microsoft has the same luxury of time as GM.

Here is my plea to Microsoft:  Please focus on Clarity, Simplicity & Communicating how your stuff works.

When there are Issues, instead of giving us infuriating 'Help' links which only send the user to a general Microsoft home page, send us to a RELEVANT page.  Don't make it a CONTORTED QUEST just to get a simple answer.

Its still not working. I also had this message, " you will need internet for this" It doesn't look like you are connected to the internet. Please check your connection and try again.

Meanwhile I am connected to the internet. This is so frustrating
