I've recently upgraded my computer, bought Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Keyboard and installed Windows 8.1 x64.
I also installed Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center v.2.2, that's offered on the Microsoft Hardware website.
The keyboard works like a charm, but Mouse and Keyboard Center doesn't recognize it.
There's a driver for keyboard in device manager called "Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Keyboard (Mouse and Keyboard Center)", and there's also a mouse driver called "Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Mouse (Mouse and Keyboard Center)", though I don't have any wireless mice. There are also two devices under HID devices group, "Microsoft hardware - USB-keyboard" and "Microsoft hardware - USB-mouse". Disabling those mouse drivers doesn't help.
What's wrong and how can I make Mouse and Keyboard Center see my Sculpt Comfort Keyboard?

The keyboard works, but does not appear in K &M Center, and I cannot customize it, etc. they each have a dongle that works. My problem is that this keyboard is not recognized by MS K & M Center and all the benefits that come with that software. It works in the Windows OS.
Did they come separately or were they in the same package? If they weren't in the same package, you can only use one dongle and the differing hardware will be tuned to the different dongles. Make sure to have the most current drivers and Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse Center from the Microsoft hardware website. There are fake drivers out there that really aren't the latest but which have had their version numbers bumped up to get people looking for newer drivers to install something malicious. The driver should contain the words "USB Dual Receiver" in the driver name in Device manager.
Did you install the drivers while you had the dongle plugged in? If so, you need to completely remove all the drivers and Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center. Use the original keyboard to install the drivers first, and then, after the computer is restarted, remove the original keyboard and insert the dongle, and wait for the system to recognize the hardware and install the correct driver. Try also removing all keyboard drivers and rebooting. Sometimes conflicts arise. Make sure that no remnants of the Microsoft drivers remain on the hard drive. Use Device manager to delete drivers completely from hard drive before trying this. If any traces are left this will not work.

This keyboard is not recognized by Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse Center. I tried everything. I bought it together with a mouse, which is recognized. (Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse, model 1560.
Isn't the KGR1173 number for the cover for your keyboard, as in "Microsoft Mobile KGR1173 X822995-001 Keyboard Protector"? That number doesn't sound familiar for a keyboard from Microsoft. If I recall correctly, that cover fits the Microsoft Sculpt 1531. So, if you are looking for the number KGR1173 in Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse Center, I am not surprised you aren't finding it there.
Still does not work, my keyboard model does not appear in Keyboard and Mouse Center: KGR1173. Too bad, Microsoft.
