Wsreset error "'ms-windows-store:PurgeCaches'"

Every time I attempt the reset for the store (Store and other apps routinely crash after the Win 8.1 update).  I receive the below error message:

All device drivers are up-to-date (and have not changed since when it did work)

Anti-Virus is the same as it was when everything worked (Norton AV)

I launched a command prompt with administrative rights and ran "wsreset.exe".  The screen flashes over to the store, then crashes back to the start screen.  When returning to the desktop, the following error is found:

I ran system file checker, with administrative rights, and it reported back with no issues:

    Hello everyone

    I have the same problem with the store cache and error and I can not seem to solve the problem despite the aid.

    For those who have managed to correct, could you tell me how you made it?

    nadia,

    That would be absolute torture if you had to install the 8.1 Updates separately again. So yes, they're included in the 8.1 upgrade now.

    Thanks, I've now done that.

    What I did notice was that the 8.1 that I got from the store now incorporates the tweaks that I got from the 8.1 update e.g. store icon now on taskbar etc, so after installing 8.1 from the store I didn't have another updates, which is probably why it's working as they must've realised that releasing them as 2 separate updates was causing problems.

    I'm glad to hear you're up and running again although reinstalling everytthing all over again is not something I relish.

    To safeguard yourself for the future though, I'd recommend you create a System Image Backup. If history repeats itself (I hope it won't), then all you need to do is to restore to the system image backup which will return the machine to the state it was in when you created it.

    That will include all your own personal data such as apps, music, movies, games, documents together with all the driver updates you've installed and all the patches which were on the machine already when you created the backup.

    To create one, you need an external hard drive with at least 50GB free space. Unlike a Recovery disk though, you can use the rest of the storage space for whatever you wish, so ideally get one with around 500GB storage space.

    1. To begin, right click the Start button and go to Control Panel. If you have the Category view, change it to "Small icons" top right.
    2. Next, click the "File History" link and then click the link to System Image Backup which you'll find in the bottom left hand corner (see screenshot).
    3. Windows will find the external hard drive automatically, so just click Next.
    4. The EFI System Partition and your C: drive will be selected automatically as well, so just click Next (see second screenshot).

    The backup will be saved to the external hard drive as "WindowsImageBackup" (all one word). This isn't important other than for knowing what it is is you look through your HD at a later date.

    I've done the unthinkable, I've done a windows refresh (had to do it from start up as it wouldn't do it from PC Settings).  So store is now working again and I can spend the next couple of weeks reinstalling everything but hopefully once I upgrade to 8.1 this time the problem won't occur again.
