Default gateway not available windows 8.1

I've just upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 two days ago, and it is great. But I have a problem, my wireless network that I usually connect to is now Limited. I ran the network diagnostics and it says the "Default gateway is unavailable" How can I fix this?

all you have to do is to change your network adapter driver from "Broadcom 802.11n Natwork Adapter" to "Broadcom 802.11a Natwork Adapter" and your wifi will work properly.

below are the stepsto change network adapter driver.

i have Lenovo Z580

solution worked for me was...

1>open device manager

2>expand network adapters

3>double click on Broadcom 802.11a network Adapter (i.e open your wifi N/W adapter properties) 

(Nore:- you might have Broadcom 802.11n network Adapter than select that)

4>select driver tab n click on update driver...

5>select Browse my computer for driver

6>click on let me pic from list of device....

7>unchack show compatibale hardware

8> now from the manufacturer window select Broadcomand from the Network Adapter list select the the driver having name Broadcom 802.11a Network Adapter and re connect your wifi..

Notethat u have to select 802.11a by default it was 802.11n...

if still have problem try another driver from list any one of tham will defiantly work..

    I just had this mini heart attack after trying to update my driver by following these few steps that is provided up here & I literally could'nt connect back to the internet at all. The wifi setup was not existent at that current time it was like I was stuck in the middle of a desert where I had no way of fixing this but fortunately I remembered Device manager & thank god because I was looking for a solution so bad. I went to the device manager back to the first step & then on network adapter then driver & I was able to reverse it back.I'm relieved!I don't mean to exaggerate but it was important enough for me to post this comment and hopefully you just think twice of making it a go because you may not make it back to the internet ,Or just note down what I said so that you can reverse back to the original state of your computer.It did not end up working for me.

    This alternate DNS server is for BSNL in India and this may not be desirable for users in other countries. It would be better to search for "alternate DNS server" lists and choose one that suits you, such as

    OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 Primary DNS and 208.67.220.220 Secondary DNS) or

    Google (8.8.8.8 Primary DNS and 8.8.4.4 Secondary DNS).

    Also, fixing your IP address at 192.168.1.101 for the device you are trying to fix could cause some people conflict if a device on your network has already been assigned this address.

    Whilst the fix you mention may work for you, it is not a guarantee that it will work for others and they may not want this Indian DNS server as their secondary if they are outside India.
