    Is it a RETAIL licensed version of Windows XP?  If so, yes.

    if it is an OEM version, not under the terms of the licensing.

    Scare you?  Everyone has just given you facts.

    Windows XP gets its last Microsoft freely produced updates on April 8.  Once you get whatever updates are released on that day for Windows XP from Microsoft, supposedly, you are on your own.  12+ years of patches is it.

    You (since you have a retail version) can attempt to run it on any hardware you want to attempt to run it on - but many hardware vendors are not going to provide drivers (software) for their hardware for Windows XP anymore because it is 3 versions behind the current Microsoft operating system.  You could easily run it as a VM though - likely for many many years to come.  Probably one of the smarter ways to run it: a VM with a snapshot you revert to either every time you shut down or when you run into problems.  Not saving any data to the actual VM and saving your data via backups (offline most of the time, offsite whenever possible) in case something really nasty invades (like the things that encrypt all your data for you these days.)

    Only 2nd hand. Unless you are really lucky to find a seller that still has old stuff stuck on the shelf.

    True, but the vast majority of people here do care about the latest and greatest and they care about XP too. I will still be here trying to help people after 8th April for as long as "Answers" owners keep the XP forum going.

    Like Shenan Stanley said, most of us here deal in facts but unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, some people do post misinformation. When factually incorrect statements are made it is virtually guaranteed that someone will state the truth instead. People asking questions have a right to expect factual answers, as do the people that read the threads afterwards.

    Anyone that just wants to talk purely about what they believewithout being challenged will very quickly find that "Answers" is not a suitable vehicle for them to do this.
