Oh, Gee, you are a scardy cat of losing your PC because of fire or inside a hot SUV for four months? YEAH, HOW about a fried CPU core? It is dead meat in either case! Nobody is immune to 'Murphy's Law'! If that you are as stupid as my brother was, with no page file on a 6 GB drive, he as well as you are really asking for it. WITH one PC that is IT, it was a goner! HE came to me to recover the data off all three 2 GB partitions AS I had three PC ready to rescue his data for him. I had to play a few hardware tricks to get it done for him! Maybe, you haven't used floppies and casessettes long enough to learn that lesson.
MORAL: "Do not put ANY of your valued data on drive letter C!" That is for Windows only! PERIOD!!!
If Windows crashes to the point where it wont boot or you get hacked as I have, you will have to re-install Windows from a clean boot and delete all of the hard disk drive to do it! KISS ALL OF YOUR DATA GOOD--BYE! That is no joke you have to live with. SO, you want to keep it? Use a second drive internally or attach an external one... What if that glitches by accident? (Murphy's Law) by trying to access it, then you lose your first backup.
There are several other reasons why you do not stuff everything you own in one basket, or all of your DATA on drive letter C and have one PC:
- One drive ain't big enough, especially when it 6 to 60 GB or as high as 1 TB? This goes for all versions of Windows.
- It makes Windows run slower! Access time is critical, as that is why you use SATA drives in favor of IDE drives and better yet SSDs, as also the WHY a faster processor and a matching 10 times page file to match!
- Maybe you do not know what is a master backup is amongst even two PCs can do for you if one is off and the other is ON? Or on a network server HDD? It circumvents 'Murphy's Law' in your data's favor. If you lose your only picture of your girlfriend, she ain't going to pose for it the second time. HOW are you going to get it back?
- You have too many programs and services running on your PC that IS WHY. LOOK at the Task manager You pegged the CPU METER, (Graph) in the performance tab. Turn on the Kernal times (RED line), from VIEW, if it stays up for more than five seconds, it freezes or crashes Windows. Additional services and programs raises the RED bar or line. The green one is the frequency, (HOW fast the process is going)! You have a fifteen minute limit on that! The faster it goes the more heat the CPU generates, also WHY the processor fan and the processor's heat sink, (metal fins around or on top of it).
- Insuffient memory is the big reason what makes the PC work poorly as Windows need all it can get! and over clocks the CPU!
- Performance is the name of the game in computing as to win a race and YOU cannot run out of resources doing any long task! Extra drives and partitions solves some of that. Maybe you have not had any crashes that stop the process and your data IS LOST for GOOD? Where is the backup or the master backup? Maybe you did not take a course in DATA Processing as I have? Surely you do not want to run out of GAS in your car ten miles out going to work? You get fired by it? In my case a bus whizzes by you at eleven PM and you as I was on guard duty and have to go 25 miles to work and be there at 11:45 PM to sign in!
- Equipment failure! A biggie! You may have to PAY big bucks to get the PC going again and also added expense in data recovery, With one PC, you are toast! What are you going to do while the PC is in the shop when you have an hour to file a report? A second or third PC gives you a chance to file it! There are a lot more things you are not considering as why you do not have a spare tire in your car as a spare PC at home or office! What you want to do with outweighs the cost of a new one! IT gets the job done so you can get paid by doing it! It is a link in the chain of events to be successful.
Having more than one PC and more than one drive insures what you want done gets done on time. Down time is costly in ayone's pocket book!
