Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard - Capital "C" not working.

I have had this desktop set for about 4-6 months.

It works great. The only problem is that the letter "C" can not be capitalized with either the left or right shift key.

The only way that I can get a capital "C" is to use the CapsLock key, and then it will type a capital "C".

It does not appear to be a hardware issue, it almost acts like a software/firmware issue.

I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit version.

I have switched this keyboard to a different computer with the same symptoms.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

Hi,

I had the same problem.

Neither updating the software of removing the battery did work for me.

However, after a while I figured out that one of the function keys (F2) was tilted. I fixed that and now it works.

Actually you can reproduce the problem. Press down a function key and try typing. Everything works except for capital c.

Update: I did update the software but no change. Called Microsoft to get a replacement and had to pop the batteries out to get the product ID # to process the replacement. Would you believe once I did that and put them back in, it started working? Seriously, I used it all day with no issues.

    You deserve an award.  I thought I was going crazy.  I use Visual Studio and it would randomly start building.  My shift-v would not work.  Web pages would randomly reload.  My F5 was stuck!  Talk about messing with ones head.  Thanks for the help, my sanity has been restored!

    Hi Ramesh,

    You have been thanking people for their "me too" replies to the "Capital C" issue, but:

    (1) This issue is definitely not truly resolved, and

    (2) I think it's indicative of a much larger underlying issue.

    The larger issue was alluded to by @MagicRatFish in 2014 and confirmed by @RMTea, @Newbro, @EddieLoeffen, @Laudren and now me. I've bought two of these keyboards and they both have exactly the same issue.

    Pressing two keys (including a "stuck" F2 or other F-key) together with the shift key held down (second key pressed before the first is released) results in one of three outcomes:

     - both letters appear in upper case (this is what should happen)

     - the second letter pressed is in lower case

     - the second letter does not appear at all

    To illustrate, here's me holding the Shift key down and swiping my fingers across the letters of the keyboard (pressing every letter of the alphabet), only half of them are uppercase:

    Now, I know and agree that due to technical limitations on the hardware design of keyboards that most cannot cope with more than three or so keys pressed at once.  But the design of this keyboard seems to have a fatal flaw.  It's not usable for programming

    • I'm constantly needing to type words or a few letters in uppercase, have a deep seated habit of typing quickly, often resulting in two letters pressed concurrently as I move from one letter to the next... and this keyboard is failing in a way that NO other keyboard I've ever used has failed.

    Not all letter combos are affected, but enough are that it's completely unusable for me.  Here are the ones I've discovered:

    Az/Za

    Sx/Xs

    Dc/Cd

    Fv/Vf

    Xw/Wx

    Ce/Ec

    Vr/Rv

    Vb/Bv

    Mj/Jm

    <k/K,

    >l/L.

    Nm/Mn

    Um/Mu

    ... and the list goes on

    I note that it only seems to happen with letter pairs on the same side of the keyboard, but it doesn't matter which shift key you use.

    I want to love this keyboard, I really do.  It's otherwise beautifully designed - from the battery compartments to the magnetic snap-on foot. I love that the keypad is separate.  But this one annoyance totally kills it for me.
