Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard - Capital "C" not working.

I have had this desktop set for about 4-6 months.

It works great. The only problem is that the letter "C" can not be capitalized with either the left or right shift key.

The only way that I can get a capital "C" is to use the CapsLock key, and then it will type a capital "C".

It does not appear to be a hardware issue, it almost acts like a software/firmware issue.

I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit version.

I have switched this keyboard to a different computer with the same symptoms.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

Hi,

I had the same problem.

Neither updating the software of removing the battery did work for me.

However, after a while I figured out that one of the function keys (F2) was tilted. I fixed that and now it works.

Actually you can reproduce the problem. Press down a function key and try typing. Everything works except for capital c.

Update: I did update the software but no change. Called Microsoft to get a replacement and had to pop the batteries out to get the product ID # to process the replacement. Would you believe once I did that and put them back in, it started working? Seriously, I used it all day with no issues.

    I was just researching this exact issue because my Cap C stopped working a few days ago and its been driving me nuts.  THANKS to Konstantin, I saw that my F2 button was stuck.  Released the button and problem solved.  Would recommend that anyone else check all your F buttons, starting with F2, and look for a button that is tilted or stuck.

    Thanks again to Konstantin. Since I read his post last year, I've had far fewer problems with the keyboard. The takeaway message is that with this keyboard, you just have to be neater and clean it more often than with most keyboards. Now, if I'm having problems, the first thing I do is to pop out the batteries turn it over to shake out dust and then just do a careful cleanout. In fact, it'd be a good idea if Microsoft included a can of compressed air in the box.

    Two other points: (1) It is good to check whether you have the Fn keys set to white or blue. I got frustrated with what I thought was a WordPerfect problem when keyboard shotcuts wouldn't work. It turned out that I hadd the Fn keys on blue, so they didn't work when I was using WordPerfect. (2) an issue I've had with the keyboard is that when I hold down the Shift key to capitalize, it frequently doesn't work. I haven't figured out if the problem is that I have weak little fingers (I touch type) or the keyboard. I've had the same problem on the Brydge keyboard I use with my iPad, so it could be my fingers; or it could be a technology used by both keyboards.

    Nonetheless, I really like this keyboard, though one needs to realize that it is more persnickity than most.

    Well done Konstantin. Thanks for posting.

    I had the same problem and the F2 key was the cause. For me the symptoms were worse ie after a reboot the system constantly went into BIOS mode and I was completely unable to load Windows 8, until I took the Microsoft keyboard and mouse dongle out - after which it rebooted. Quite concerning at the time.
