I'm having trouble trying to determine exactly what motherboard I have and what BIOS update I need for it. I have determined that my current configuration is:
FOXCONN 2AB1 Motherboard
AMD 785G Chipset
AMD SB700 Southbridge
American Megatrends Inc BIOS
Version 6.05 January 18th 2011
BTW I have a Windows 7 Ultimate HP Pavilion p6720f Desktop PC.
I don't really understand where to go to find the proper BIOS update, I have tried both the FOXCONN and AMI websites with no luck. The HP website makes no sense, when I look at BIOS updates listed under my computer, two different ones are listed. Neither of them sounds at all like my motherboard or current BIOS. They are called H-RS880-UATX Motherboard BIOS Update and N-Alvorix-RS880 Motherboard BIOS Update. How in the world do I know what BIOS update I need to install?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I feel like contacting HP to update my BIOS is a little bit of overkill, isn't their a reliable way to find the correct update online and do it yourself?
I suggested contacting HP support since determining what BIOS update is required has not been possible.
They should be able to point to which update is required for your computer.
Today I am going to try a new motherboard in my PC.
You do appreciate that if you have an OEM version of Windows 7 that changing the motherboard means you need a new copy of Windows 7? Once installed an OEM version of Windows 7 becomes tied to the motherboard. If your installed copy of Windows 7 is a retail version then you can uninstall and reinstall it on a new motherboard providing only one copy of the Windows 7 disk is being used at any given time.
Researching Standby usage earlier today I came across a possible way to restore Free memory without restarting your computer. Download and install RAMMap (freeware from Systernals, part of Microsoft):

Once installed place a shortcut to your Desktop or pin to your Taskbar. Open RAMMap, select Empty from the Menu bar and click Empty Standby List. Open Resource Monitor and you will see that you once again have a minimal Standby figure and restored Free figure. I am still testing these actions but so far I have not observed any ill effects.
Great, thanks for explaining that to me. I have been watching resource monitor when I restart the computer and I do notice an increase in the proportion of Free RAM.

Could you briefly explain the RAM situation in more detail? Of the 5 categories shown by Resource Monitor, which should I be worried about and why?
Hardware Reserved on most computers is a constant, which will usually only change when hardware, often the graphics card, is added or removed. Thus if you switched in your GTX650 graphics card the figure might change. You can also see problems if there is an invalid memory configuration.
In Use is the constantly changing result of what is running at the time. You can reduce the figure by shutting down (or not starting) programmes. You can use Autoruns to identify what loads when the computer is booted and, where practical and desirable, change the programme to only load on demand.
Modified is something I know little about but it is usually an insignificant figure and safely ignored.
Standby is a figure that is important. It is data stored in memory that can be speedily released to in use when next needed. When another programme is started the oldest data in standby is dumped, if there is not enough free memory available.
Free to me is the important figure. If you consistently see a low figure you are likely seeing slow system performance. It will also mean that the pagefile is brought more into use. Using the pagefile will slow down processing data. You can find that by restarting the computer the standby figure is dramatically reduced and the free memory restored to a reasonable level. If you need to do this too often you should consider increasing the installed RAM.
I still cannot run the computer on the GTX 650. I have however, through troubleshooting with other computers, determined that there is nothing wrong with the GPU. I am now in the process of checking individual hardware components in my computer.
