The ordinal 12404 could not be located in the dynamic link library mfc90u.dll.

I am getting this error when trying to open Samsung Kies 3 after new installation:

The ordinal 12404 could not be located in the dynamic link library mfc90u.dll.

This error is almost identical to the one posted **here**, but that error was for ordinal 7426, and is from a couple of years ago. Nevertheless, I tried the recommended fix (install Visual C++ 2008 SP1) which evidently works for a LOT of people, but this did not change my problem.

I've re-installed and rebooted multiple times, and I've searched my system for the dll that it says cannot be located:

- C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft.vc90.mfc_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.6161_none_044aad0bab1eb146 (Date: 7/25/2014; Size: 4.86mb)

- C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft.vc90.mfc_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.21022.8_none_b81d038aaf540e86 (Date: 9/5/2014; Size: 1.10mb)

- C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung\Kies3\FirmwareUpdate (Date: 5/7/2014; Size: 3.60mb)

- C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung\Kies3 (Date: 5/7/2014; Size: 3.60mb)

The first two files appear to be temporary files (the one dated 9/5 may be from today's install of Visual C++). The last two I know come with the install of Kies 3 -- I searched for the dll both before and after reinstall of the product.

If Kies 3 can't locate the dll in the dynamic link library, perhaps I can copy the dll to that location? If so, where is that location?

Any other thoughts on how to correct this?

After Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Feature Pack Redistributable Package (x86) my problem was fixed.

Thank you so much! That did it. I just had received input from Samsung that it would not work with a Surface Book. After I installed MVC, it did immediately!!!

I'm having my excitement right now on windows 10 (that I just transferred) to install Samsung switch. I'm more irritated thats its using such an old redistributable that it doesn't come packaged with it. I also now see there is a service pack and it wasn't in the list of recomended downloads.

Hopefully this is the fix?

Seems like it is but hopefully you can install 2008 c++ redistributable sp1 without needing the original since it crashed my pc right after the install.
