Windows 8.1 Pro Secure Build isnt configured correctly build 9600 watermark

I have recently downloaded the Windows 8.1 Pro version and I now have a "Secure Build isnt configured correctly build 9600" watermark on my desktop. I updated from windows 8 pro to 8.1. I tried to configure the bios to enable secure boot I cant find it anywhere on the BIOS screen. I have an ASUS X401a laptop. I also tried to edit the group policy that enable advanced boot options as well but nothing seems to work. Now my question is this fixable or will my laptop stop working after certain amount of time. This is very frustrating as I use this as my computer for school.  Also Windows 8 has been activated since I checked for the key and its fine.

    Wrong answer, Microsoft.

There are advanced users of machines - especially these ASUS workhorses - that can not enable secure boot. You stated yourself that if we have custom drivers that it has to be disabled. Many of use boot multiple operating systems, some of which (Win 7, for example) don't support Secure Boot.

This is purely an operating system generated error. Telling us to break our hardware to get rid of it is not the correct solution. Provide us with a patch to disable this watermark, if not the check altogether. Just because we're running 8.1 Pro doesn't mean it's our only option - stupid stuff like this keeps up, and I will not be using Windows at all. I don't need it, I've just invested too much money and time into learning Windows 8 and don't want to put that experience to waste.

My laptop came with windows 8, which i don't like, so i updated to 8.1 to get a so called start button. I have gone into the Bios and cannot enable secure boot, to get rid of the water mark, as it is greyed out. Would this have been the same when it was running windows 8? I only found out how to get into the Bios when searching this problem. Is my laptop now at risk.

My main concern is since the watermark is active, will my copy of windows 8.1 Pro expire after a few months? Or should I just re-install Windows 8 using the disk and not update to 8.1?
