I have recently downloaded the Windows 8.1 Pro version and I now have a "Secure Build isnt configured correctly build 9600" watermark on my desktop. I updated from windows 8 pro to 8.1. I tried to configure the bios to enable secure boot I cant find it anywhere on the BIOS screen. I have an ASUS X401a laptop. I also tried to edit the group policy that enable advanced boot options as well but nothing seems to work. Now my question is this fixable or will my laptop stop working after certain amount of time. This is very frustrating as I use this as my computer for school.  Also Windows 8 has been activated since I checked for the key and its fine.

Microsoft get rid of this annoying defacement of MY DESKTOP. It is not yours to deface with this technical graffiti. Give us the option to remove it regardless of our hardware options. Was it your intention to **** off users so much with this upgrade that they never want to use windows 8 again? Well you are on the right track. Congratulations on yet another useless "feature"

If the Secure Boot Control function is not present in the BIOS, then you can only get rid of the (error) message by converting the diskformat to MBR.

You will have to format the HDD/SSD, so all the data will be wiped.

You can find a guide / tutorial about converting HDD/SSD to MBR on the websites below.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/n10)

So, my old pc HP Compaq works perfectly on Windows 8.1 because the hard disk is formatted in MBR.

My new ASUS K95VM does show watermark and does not operate good, because the disk is formatted in GPT.
