I'm no expert, but I am also not stupid, and I agree completely. This is far from the only problem I, and others, have had with windows 8 and 8.1. I can't believe Microsoft rolled out this "upgrade" seeing as the forum seems to imply a lot of people had problems with the Preview. Shame shame , Microsoft.
Windows 8.1 Pro Secure Build isnt configured correctly build 9600 watermark
I have recently downloaded the Windows 8.1 Pro version and I now have a "Secure Build isnt configured correctly build 9600" watermark on my desktop. I updated from windows 8 pro to 8.1. I tried to configure the bios to enable secure boot I cant find it anywhere on the BIOS screen. I have an ASUS X401a laptop. I also tried to edit the group policy that enable advanced boot options as well but nothing seems to work. Now my question is this fixable or will my laptop stop working after certain amount of time. This is very frustrating as I use this as my computer for school. Also Windows 8 has been activated since I checked for the key and its fine.

2013-10-28T18:38:25+00:00 I think Microsoft screwed up in too big a hurry to make 8.1 available. We should not be obliged to play around with the BIOS to solve a problem that did not exist before updating from 8.0 to 8.1. It is the responsibility of Microsoft to provide an update to correct this error that they have created. And do it quickly!

2013-10-28T17:36:43+00:00 Very sad and disappointing to hear that.
I use a Samsung 5 Ultra and have this watermark too, and I have no idea how to modify my bios.
I cant be possible that I, under recommendation of microsoft, have updated my windows and nos have got an usseu that I have to solve by myself?
What kind of upgrade and support is that?
I am totally disappointed after telling everyone that they should use windows 8 and now having to experience that.
I wisely wont recommend windows 8 again, why would I recommend an OS that messes up someones pc?
=(
