Just found that Flickr's Web Uploader DOES retain the metadata that you add within Photo Gallery so until the upload feature in Photo Gallery is fixed, I for one will be using this. It's nowhere near as friendly but it does mean that I don't have to type in descriptions and tags for all my photos all over again.
Photo Gallery not working with Flickr
Flickr has changed there API and I'm not able to use Windows Photo Gallery to load to there site anymore. I've talked to flickr and they say it's cuz of there new API and that Windows Photo Gallery has to update before it will work again. Anyone know what to do?

2014-09-10T13:00:12+00:00 We'd better keep the heat in this issue above ambient, people, since it's a markedly relevant factor in WLPG's functionality.
Vivien, Glenda, Caesar, others ..have promised that the 'development team' is aware of the matter and is 'working on a solution', but we'd have to expect that it's not likely to be on the top of their run-sheet while a new MD announces his plans and the organisation assuages it's '8' embarrassment getting Windows 9 to market.
We do need to think of incentives that can be communicated to the development leads so that their programmers can start coding again. Remember, WLPG is provided essentially free, gratis, and for nothing. If there's even the slightest business case for Msft to refresh the service, then we need to remind them of it.
- Note that the link to Flickr is a convenience, outside the Microsoft sphere, and so all users within WLPG and Outlook.com are lost to Yahoo/Flickr after an upload. Msft offers OneDrive for photos, so that may be seen as 'good enough'. Why would they bother to fix an alien connection?
- Personally, my wish to use Flickr is because I'm told that Flickr carries over the metadata from WLPG objects - after captioning all my many photos in WLPG, I'd like to see them displayed prominently and simply when people I'm sharing photos with view them. A shared photo is nothing much without a description.
- I'd expect that OneDrive photo collections would do the job, but, incredibly, OneDrive doesn't appear to read WLPG captions; filenames, some other data, off in a side panel, but NOT captions. Yes, they're Titles and Subjects within the NTFS JPG files, but co-ordination between systems is severely lacking, IMHO. Maybe OneDrive would do, once it's overhauled.
And, as a few posters here have said, it's time for WLPG to have a refresh; faulty resizing is one item that comes to my mind ...NOT identifying faces when I untick the option is another. Case-sensitivity in tag prompts..
Business case for a refresh? Respectability. Trustworthiness.

2014-09-29T23:16:10+00:00 Hi everyone,
I apologize for the delay in responding to this thread. We know how convenient to upload photos to Flickr through Windows Photo Gallery, but the recent changes lost its functionality to do so. This concern has been forwarded to the product group and we received a word that there will be no update for this. Therefore, we advise that you upload files directly to Flickr instead.
We appreciate your feedback regarding this concern and thank you for your understanding.
Regards,

WE WAITED 3 MONTHS TO HEAR THIS, BASICALLY SAYING "OH, WE'RE NOT GONNA DO THAT". DID ANYONE TRY, AT ALL, TO COME UP WITH A FIX? I THINK NOT. JUST DRAGGED IT OUT FOR A QUARTER OF A YEAR UNTIL IT "COOLED-DOWN". DON'T THANK US FOR UNDERSTANDING; THE LAST 3 MONTHS HAS SHOWN WE DON'T MATTER.
