Windows 8.1 Install Error 0xC1900101-0x20017

I had this problem upgrading from windows 8 to the preview and was never able to install it. Now I just try with the final and same problem is happening.

Microsoft is really disappointing me. This is ridiculous

    I have this problem too. I'm an advanced user and I'm sure that there's nothing that most of the users can do to override the problem, it's something that Microsoft needs to address. Even if you can find someone online that solved the problem following the crazy procedures that are also reccommended on this thread (it escapes me why someone should disable the firewall or run dism to install an OS update) that won't be the case for most users. The installation stops almost as soon as it begins (with a blue screen that doesn't give a single error message, very well done Microsoft!) so its probably related to some incompatible hardware. Examining the log files doesn't suggest anything meaniningful, at least in my case. By the way my laptop is an "old" tablet-PC (Fujitsu T5010) that already runs Windows 8 and all the hardware is correctly recognized.

    I've tried the clean boot already and no I don't have iobit driverbooster on my system.

    I have no such software. Never heard of this. This machine is exactly as it was shipped from DELL several years ago except for that additional disk which works without problems in 7 and 8.

    This is an issue with 8.1.

    Do you have iobit driverbooster?

    Uninstall it and retry.

    Perform a clean boot to check if any third party application is causing the issue, as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts. Follow these steps given in the link below to start the computer in clean boot.

    I have five other machines in my home of differing hardware which all upgraded from W8 to W8.1 with no problem. This machine has the newest hardware and has been running Windows 8 for a while now. All of my Windows OS’s are legal and all machines were up to date. I’ve done everything listed below with and get the same result  0xC1900101-0x20017.

    1. Reset pc
    2. Open Windows Updates
    3. Install important updates
    4. Install optional updates
    5. Go to Windows > Software Distribution and delete contents of the folder (do not delete folder)
    6. Run Disk Cleaner
    7. Clear Windows Store cache files

    Press Windows Flag key + R

    Type WSreset.exe  

    Press Ok

    1. Download Windows 8.1

    Did you uninstall third-party anti-virus software? Don’t have this.

    Have you temporarily disabled Windows Firewall and Windows Defender?

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth 

    Press Enter

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    Press Enter
