When I attempt to install Windows 8.1 on my machine from the Windows Store, on boot I receive a blue screen. The error message indicates that the system was unable to create a ramdisk and shows error number 0xc1900101.
On reboot, it restores my original installation and provides the following error code: 0xc1900101-0x20017.
In reading some other topics, it seems drivers may need to be updated, but as far as I know I am up-to-date. Is there a way to identify which driver had a failure?
Also, on other threads with this code, I see no mention of a "ramdisk". Is that a unique problem?

Edit: Let me note my system has no ramdisk software installed whatsoever.

2013-10-18T23:49:05+00:00 I have the same issue. No partitioning, no encryption, drivers up to date, all Windows 8 Pro updates applied. The only issue I can imagine is my BIOS somehow? Updating from Windows 7 to Windows 8 was a dream, so the 8.1 install errors make no sense to me.

2013-10-19T01:38:44+00:00 It's weird, I keep seeing people with SSDs having this issue, I however only have oldschool HDDs, 8gigs of ram, all drivers up to date, tons of HDD space... Same as Regin, upgrading from XP to 8 was gloriously easy, 8.1 is just broken...

2013-10-19T03:55:42+00:00 Thanks everyone for including your information on this issue. I think it's affecting quite a few folks based on what I've seen.
To Microsoft - is there a way to identify what specific driver caused the failure? Otherwise it's really a needle-in-a-haystack situation to try to identify the cause. If we could identify that, we could simply fully uninstall the device, perform the upgrade, and then go from there.

2013-10-19T08:00:09+00:00 Is it possible to create update media on a thumb drive or disk? I have the same problem. Maybe that would help bypass the error.
