Windows 8.1 install - unable to create ramdisk - 0xc1900101-0x20017

When I attempt to install Windows 8.1 on my machine from the Windows Store, on boot I receive a blue screen. The error message indicates that the system was unable to create a ramdisk and shows error number 0xc1900101.

On reboot, it restores my original installation and provides the following error code: 0xc1900101-0x20017.

In reading some other topics, it seems drivers may need to be updated, but as far as I know I am up-to-date. Is there a way to identify which driver had a failure?

Also, on other threads with this code, I see no mention of a "ramdisk". Is that a unique problem?

Edit: Let me note my system has no ramdisk software installed whatsoever.

    Uninstall the Intel Rapid Storage Driver first, then run 8.1 update again.

    This works for me on 2 different PC's.

    I was finally able to install Windows 8.1 Pro and then Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center.

    I too had the “unable to create a ramdisk” error on an old Dell PC.

    The Windows 8 Pro on the PC was upgraded from Windows 7 originally around 12/2012. Windows

    Media Center Pack was later added.

    This is how I did it:

    1. Find your original Windows 8 Pro Product Key. (Make sure it is NOT the

    Windows Media Center Pack upgrade Product Key.)

    I was able to find my original e-mail from Microsoft with the key.

    1. You will also need a generic Windows 8.1 Pro Product Key.

    The one I found online is:

    1. After installation my system is now listed as Windows 8.1 Pro and fully activated.

    The problem is now I was unable to find Windows Media Center.

    I really don't use the Media Center but I wanted to see if I can install it.

    I was able to use the WIndows 8 Media Center Product Key I had back in 12/2012 and clicked Add

    Features to Windows 8.1 Pro.  Now my Windows Edition says Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center. Make sure you use a Media Center Product Key that has been validated and used before.

    Hope this works for others.

    I get the same error. I have an evga 750sli mobo, with Intel q6600. I can't upgrade to Windows 8.1 w/MC even though I've done it successfully with two other PC's in my house. (Different builds)

    My drivers are all up to date, and I've done a complete malware and virus scan. This is a MSFT problem that needs to be fixed, pronto!

    I tried the same method but ran into the "Unable to create ramdisk ..." error when I tried to refresh my PC. 

    I had this error also, when I tried a refresh of 8.
