Asus T100 transformer tablet running Windows 8.1 - startup issue

Hi all,

I'm having an issue where if I restart the tablet it gets stuck between shutting down and starting up leaving me with a black screen. I usually then have to soft reset it by holding the power button down for 10 seconds after which it starts up as normal. It sometimes does this after a regular shut down or even sometimes after it's just been asleep. I have done several factory resets slowly installing windows updates, programs, everything I can think of to no avail. This is the third tablet (2 replacements) so I'm thinking it's not a hardware issue. Asus don't think it's a known problem and I've trawled the net but I haven't found many others having this issue. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I have faced the same problem. But yesterday I tried to update Bios to last version (216) from http://support.asus.com.tw/. Asus Live Update in my T100 dosn't show this update, it is necessary to download it from web pages.

After Bios update everything looks OK, no problems after reboot or sleep.

    FirasSh, just go to the ASUS page for the T100TA, go to Driver & Tools, select the OS, go to Utilities, and download "ASUS Live Update Utility." Install that program and it will give you the option to update any old drivers and to update the BIOS. It worked perfectly smooth for me!

    I bought the Asus T100 and I read reviews of people recommending to update the bios. So I went to the Asus website and flashed the latest bios 220.. now the tablet does not turn on. I called Asus and the guy told me that flashing bios is not covered by the warranty.. I was like.. WHAT???

    I told him this is from their own website..how can it not be covered? - he didn't have an answer.

    Now we have a bricked tablet.

    My bios update to 220 went fine. No charging sleep/wake issue now. However network connection still has issue, often I had to disconnect wireless and reconnect.

    Magdiel, I'm sure you can return to store, especially most stores have generous return policy without restocking fee during holiday season. Also Asus has 1 year damage warranty if you register T100 within 60 days of purchase.

    Hi Folks. Been following the thread from early Nov. Just bought ASUS T100. No start-up after sleep mode overnight. Very frustrating. 

    Two concerns: 1) BIOS 216 no longer available at ASUS web site; BIOS 220 is. Will this solve start-up problem?

    1. If BIOS 220 is the solution, how do I flash it if I can't boot the T100? If I try multiple times I can get a diagnostic screen and some choices. Not sure which choices to try and which might allow BIOS flash. I saw somewhere that someone flashed the BIOS from a fat32 USB drive. If correct solution, not sure how to do this.

    Please help. I don't want to go through returning the T100 only to have the problem reoccur.
