Restoring from a 2 month old back up does not put your system in the clear. These things do not build up over night. You need to run Malwarebytes and ADW Cleaner on the restored system and upload log files on what has been removed. You can then see what further needs to be done.

Dear Gerry and others,

I have managed to resolve the issue by myself! Yay!!!!

So, firstly, you was right.

After I rolled back to previous back up, it was fine except one thing - I still have Login delay :(((( , but I managed to install all updates (problem one included).

Suddenly, I realized one thing! The system backup that I was on has something different from the original system state, that is while I was using original system, I have deleted all folders and files in "Installer folder"  (C:\Windows\Installer).

After realization of that, I was wondering: "What will happen if I just copy all folders from present system state(the one I rolled back on) to the last one(Original state)?" Good thing is before rollback to earlier backup I have made backup (sorry for tautology).

So, after 30 minutes, now I am using my original system. I copied all folders from earlier backup back to their original place(C:\Windows\Installer), restarted pc, started windows update and waited with my fingers crossed... Whola! KB2972216 and KB2894854 are successfully installed!

Also, I have installed  Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and ADW Cleaner. Anti-Malware found nothing and ADW Cleaner Found a little bit. I wiped out almost all of it except Tencent folder (it is where QQ is a Chinese messenger, I need it) and something other folders.

After that I restart my computer again and... Well, it seems that the last problem for me is Login delay.

I will be very appreciated if you can help me resolve it.

Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool fixed it for me. Thanks to whoever mentioned that!

Four updates were failing to update on a Windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition. Last process from Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool fixed the issue.

    Updates that failed:

    KB2894854

    KB2972107

    KB2972216

    KB2979578

I strongly suspect the problem is related to another utility called WICleanupUI (GUI version) and WICleanupC (command prompt version)

I found the solution to this problem:

I had the exact same problem and as the original person mentioned early on, it was a result of deleting files from the Windows Installer folder.  I was determined NOT to do a System Restore because my system state radically changes from week to week.

    Symptoms:

       1. The mentioned Windows updates fail

       2. .Net cannot be repaired, or uninstalled

       3. Microsoft .NET Framework repair and cleanup tools do not help

    Solution:

       1. Download and install the Microsoft System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7

       2. Re-Install the updates that were failing, they will now install properly.

Here is a link to the 64-bit version

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20858

Final notes, I strongly suspect the problem is related to another utility called WICleanupUI (GUI version) and WICleanupC (command prompt version)

    Happy Computing,

    Don
