Windows Update Error (80244FFF)

I've been having an issue updating my copy of Windows 8.1.  I went into Windows Update and noticed that it hadn't checked for updates since November 1st.  Every time I run Windows Update, either on the desktop or tiled interface, it gives a 80244FFF error.  It is able to download and install Windows Defender definition updates.  I've tried turning off Windows Defender and firewall, plugging my PC directly into the cable modem, trying Safe Mode (Which doesn't allow Windows Update to run), scanning all my drives for errors, and disconnecting all my hard drives except the boot drive but nothing has worked.  I don't want to "Refresh" my copy of Windows 8.1 given that I have many desktop applications and don't want to reinstall manually.

I did find a workaround, of sorts, using WSUS Offline, but I'm wanting the normal Windows Update process to work as intended.  Below is my log from the Windows directory showing what has been happening.  I'm surprised that there are no Action Center items saying Windows Update isn't working.  Is there a way to get Windows Update running as it should?

    Both BITS and Windows Update services were already running. I shut them down and the restarted them from an elevated command prompt as suggested, but that did not help at all. When I reopened Windows Update from Control Panel and checked for updates, I got error code 80240442 once again.

    Hi Mika,

    Sorry to hear it didn't work.

    Could you please post a screenshot of the error? To do that, hit the Windows key to take you to the Metro Start screen with the tiles and then start typing the word "Snipping". Before you've finished, you should see "Snipping Tool" appear on the right. Click that to open it and and click "New". The screen will turn light grey when you do that.

    Use the mouse to draw a rectangle around the error to include the title bar and any other infomation and then click "File" followed by "Save As", You can give it a name if you like or just leave it as "Capture.PNG".

    Then come back here, click the second button from the right which says "Insert image" if you hover the mouse over it. Here's a screenshot of it to illustrate what I mean.

    In the next menu which appears, click the "Browse" button and then navigate to the screenshot you just created. Then click the "Upload" button to paste it into your next post.

    I'm not sure why you wanted a screenshot; It doesn't provide any additional information. I suspect you won't be able to read Finnish.

    I don't see how we can compare.  This is bizarre.  I am perplexed.  I wonder if your date reformatting is the problem?  What do your dates look like without it?  Are they still sorted in chronological order?  If not, please consider changing your short date and time formats to something sortable at least temporarily.   BTW I would like to use the Code block attribute on that example to make the data align properly but then the auto-size makes the first colum too wide because of the CameraCodec-Package.  How about truncating that and then letting the InstalledOn format normally?  In fact, the CameraCodec-Package came even before the KB2900986 that I am using for my baseline, so just limiting my selection that way (somehow) would be useful too.
