"Your computer is low on memory" when its clearly not

This problem started when i upgraded from windows 8 to windows 8.1

When i run a game, for example, Arma3 randomly throughout my game i'll be thrown back to windows desktop and presented with a message saying "Your computer is low on memory. Save your files and close these programs: 'Game name here'"

As you can see from the above screenshot i have 2.6gb in use and 5.3 free, so why does it think its out of memory?

I have set my pagefile from "system managed" to 16gb initial - 24gb max

This made no difference whatsoever..

My hardware has not changed, Like i said i noticed this almost instantly after upgrading to 8.1

Any help would be appreciated because as far as i'm aware theres no way to revert back to 8 from 8.1?

Thanks Adriaan - I have changed the registry setting and rebooting seems to help.

    The issue being discussed here is a video driver issue that happens when your full screen game is not at the same resolution as your desktop.  The "solution" you point to is to go through your startup list and stop programs that are not necessary.  While that is a good strategy to follow (I do it myself), it unfortunately will not help out those users who are having this specific issue.

    I have this issue as well. 16GB of physical memory, over 300GB of space left on the SSD. Using the Intel 4600 graphics at the moment. Asus Maximus IV Formula.

    So far, the issue arises when:

    1. Computer wakes from sleep.
    2. Playing full screen games.

    This happened when I did my original install, and I did a reinstall and it keeps happening. I can see that the memory fills up completely while playing a game in full screen.

    Hi, i have the same problem, dosent matter what i run games or programs, that same stupid error and i have 12 gb of ram.
